Ok so my brake pedal on my MKV has literally always felt like **** ever since I bought it (2007 2.5l jetta). I've tried bleeding the brakes multiple times with little to no results. The master cylinder doesn't seem to be leaking (pumping the pedal with the car off), unless that's the wrong way to test it. But, when the car is running and say I'm sitting at a light, the pedal always slowly sinks to the floor. I can pump it up and it'll hold pressure for a bit before it does it again. And, on a side note, the rear brakes have always been more dusty than the fronts. Even when I had OEM brakes all around.

Not to sound dumb, but do these vehicles have a proportioning valve? Am I going about testing the master cylinder wrong? Maybe the ABS unit needs to be bled? Help please.

My understanding is the makV is rear brake biased so no worries there.

Check resivoir and ensure up to full line. Monitor as well as look for drip spots to ensure no leak.

Take off wheels and ensure bleed ports not leaking.

What Maint history of brakes? Age/milage on current pads/rotors? Who does your work (you/shop)?

I work at the dealer, used OEM stuff. Front have more than 70% left, rears are brand new.
