I'm trying this forum since the Automatic Transmission one didn't get any responses...has anyone seen the top of an 01V valve body, or even better, changed the solenoid on there (the one which eliminates the 5>4 downshift jerk)?
On a VW dealer's parts exploded diagram on-line, there appears to be 2 different solenoids listed for my transmission on top of the valve body in what I believe is the N91 location. In the parts list, two slightly different #15 solenoids are listed back-to-back (the #15 is only used to reference to the exploded diagram). The info for the two solenoids are very similar and is as follows:
15 ---- 01V 927 333 A -- pressure regulating valve with 0,4-5,4 o-ring ---------- qty 1
(15) -- 01V 927 333 C -- pressure regulating valve with 0,3-4,5 o-ring yellow --- qty 1
So, which one? Both are same price, and both VW dealers I called aren't real sure, even after giving my VIN #WVWPD63B13P264679. Both dealers said they didn't see a solenoid with the N91 designation for my car. One dealer parts guy suggested that there is actually 2 solenoids in that vicinity and that VW was purposefully innaccurate or vague in their diagram (guess they just want to make the big bucks replacing trannies). He said he thought I needed the 'A' one above, based on my car's symptoms.
After warm up, my car is having the hard jerk at the 5 to 4 downshift and also when moving the selector from N to D (while stopped of course). All other shifts are great. I've also verified my MAF sensor is good, no vacuum leaks, and no trannie codes using VCDS-Lite.
