Nikon Inc. has announced three new NIKKOR lenses for professional and enthusiast photographers.
Ranging in manufacturer retail prices from $749.95 to $2399.95 (USD), availability on the new glass is expected from late August to mid-September.
The three lenses include a super-telephoto zoom, an updated version of one of Nikon’s most popular lenses and a new max aperture f/1.8 prime.
Here are the highlights:
• AF-S NIKKOR 200-500mm f/5.6E ED VR
FX format Nikons will have a maximum reach of 500mm with this lens, while DX Nikons can look forward to an equivalent of 750mm. Nikon tells us the Vibration Reduction (VR) provides 4.5 stops of image stabilization. If weight is a concern, this lens hits the scales at 5 lbs. 1.2 oz. (2300 grams) with the tripod collar.
• AF-S NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8E ED VR
This new NIKKOR 24-70mm f/2.8 adds VR and utilizes Nikon’s Electromagnetic Aperture control, designed to provide consistent exposures during high speed bursts of shooting. A first for NIKKOR lenses, a new Aspherical Extra-Low Dispersion (ASP/ED) element is paired with traditional aspherical, ED and High-Refractive Index (HRI) elements for a new level of optical precision.
• AF-S NIKKOR 24mm f/1.8G ED
This is a fast wide-angle prime lens that’s both lightweight and affordable. It helps photographers immerse viewers into landscapes, interiors and architecture with amazing clarity and minimal distortion, while a fast maximum aperture delivers superb bokeh and excellent low-light ability. It features ED and Aspherical lens elements for extreme sharpness while minimizing ghosting and flare.
