Thread: Remember the Berenstein Bears? Then you're from an alternate universe.

    1. 08-11-2015 12:30 PM #1

      http://www.vice.com/en_ca/read/the-b...llel-universes

Take a cold hard look at the wording above. Does something look wrong to you? Do you remember it being Berenstein with an E, not Berenstain with an A?

If you do, you're not alone. There are many who remember it this way. In fact, there are so many Berenstein believers that people in the know will cite that as proof that this is a glitch in the matrix.
Basically, there is an entire subset of the population that adamantly believes The Berenstein Bears (I refuse to believe it's spelled with an "a" dammit!) is spelled incorrectly.

A similar large group of people also believe that the word "dilemma" is spelled "dilemna", myself being one of them too.

      http://dilemna.info/

One of the arguments for this mass confusion is the alternate universe theory.

I can distinctly remember seeing both spelling on two different books in my elementary school library.

Now I will be spending the weekend at my folks' house digging for the old books I know they still have. Mind blown indeed.

Both spellings exist. This was talked about some time ago on some corner of the internet.

My mother-in-law still has my wife's Berenstein Bears books from when they grew up. We'll have to have her find them.

I only remember it with an "A". Born in 1984.

I read these old books to my 3 year old and 6 year old almost every night. I could care less how the name is spelled.

Eh, it's probably just the authors ****ing with people. If I had a wildly successful line of children's books, I'd do the same. Either that or people just like to believe weird **** that other people believe.

I'll have to dig though the pile next time I'm back home... they're next to my brown pound puppy with red corduroy overalls with rainbow suspenders, I'm pretty sure. I'm also pretty sure it's always been spelled with an "a", at least in my universe. Maybe TCL isn't even real, man. It's a portal to a parallel universes, and we're all on different planes of existence. It is called the "vortex", you know. I mean, in the Berenstain Bears' universe, bears freaking talk, cheat at car races, and get bad grades. They don't do any of that where I live.
