when we moved into our house the inspector told us we needed to have an air gap installed on our dishwasher. After i started doing some research i realized we have a high loop on the drain line, making the air gap unnecessary
In my old house i had to clean my air gap two times over the course of us living there. the drain line for the dishwasher would clog, and water would come out of the air gap on top of the sink and drain into the sink. with no air gap on my new house, it seems like if the drain line were to ever clog, the water would drain right back into the dishwasher, never getting the dishes clean.
Any plumbers have any thoughts on which they prefer? Seems to me that the air gap is the better option in the long run.
