Thread: 16v swap 8v tranny question

      Hello

Just doing a 16v swap into my 91 GTI. i'm using the 8v transmission for this. Are there different types of 16v pressure plates? The one I have, doesnt seem to be a way to mount it in a functional way to the 8v clutch/flywheel? Any insight here? thanks a lot. Stupid question but i've searched and not a lot of in depth info.

The oe 2l pp is different but all the aftermarket stock replacement ones seem created equal. The only clutch difference is the spline, you will need an 8v small spline clutch disc unless its a trans from an 8v mk3.

I see. So is it possible to use the 8v PP instead if I already have it? Or does it absolutely need to be the 16v pressure plate to make it work? Thanks for that info
