Technically I guess it was the mkVIII Lincoln as it was introduced later and production ran slightly later than the Thunderbird but it was more or less an evolution of the MN12 platform introduced in 1989. So here is an early Super Coupe, not hugely an oddball but rarely seen built for competition away from the strip. Not sure why, quick and great handling cars for their size.

I believe he is native to Elkhart Lake, these pics were taken at Continental Roadrace Showcase early last August. The car was run there a couple times but I think it was crashed once and was repainted as it is now.

And of course, a car I would love to own in stock form, let alone these beauties.

      Holden Torana.

I saw this at Good Guys Charlotte back in October 2016...I think he won the truck class.

      No Twin I-Beam no care.

Kidding! That thing is boss. Literally. It's just about as opposite as a 302 '67 could be from dad's old 302 '67! His was white, had 3 on the tree and had a swapped 302 pushrod with an undersized radiator from the original 300. Oh, and yes, it had twin I-beam suspension coupled with bias-ply tires. Meaning: It followed grooves in the road and you had to fight your way back out. Some of you will know what I mean.

This was 30 years ago and I'd love to have it now, though! Some good IFS and disk brakes, a bigger radiator, lowering and then it'd be just tuning and driving. Yeah, baby.

I just read that project from beginning to when it fell off the face of the planet in early 2015. Would love to see what happened to it, they were just about to build a 388 for it. Nice budget build piece (budget being relative, there.)

I love Torana's, but by modern standards, these things are SMALL. Like a 'good foot shorter than a Mazda3' small.

mk1's are exceptionally smaller than mk2's.

Spotted this on the local CL. These things are fairly lightweight, I bet it's a hoot to drive and they only built a couple thousand Grand Ams.

That is pretty damned good looking. Not a fan of the interior. Check out that 33 Ford hanging out in the garage.
