Thread: Perfect Delivery Inspection, What should I look for before signing paperwork?

  1. 04-14-2003 06:35 PM #1
First, does anyone have a copy of a Perfect Delivery Inspection? A sort of check-list that VW dealerships use when they're preped? Please post a copy if you have one!

Secondly, aside from the above, what should one look for during inspection before signing away? Other than the very basics, I have no experience doing it.

    Thanks for any advice.

This list actually comes with the car...All VWs

I was aware that it is completed, but never received one when I bought my 02 Jetta.

Now I am looking to buy the 20th AE GTI and have no idea what I should inspect upon delivery. Any input?

Can you or anyone post a copy of a PDI?

your dealership is supposed to fillout a sheet showing they inspected your car. I'm not sure if they normally give it to you but mine did. It shows the name of the tech and that they checked everything off.

http://www.clubb5.com has a passat specific list but it's pretty good generically. You just should go over the car with a fine tooth comb in a lit area before you pick it up. when I got mine it was dark and raining so they brought it into the garage area for me so I could look it over.

The list is on the other side of the PDI(Pre-Delivery Checklist) it is one document, seperated by tissue for the carbon

vwguild: I sent you an IM with my fax number. Thank you.

For my 02 Jetta purchase, I was not aware a PDI even existed, salesperson did not show/speak of it and Maintenance book dealer stamp/date was missing indicating that it had been inspected. I discovered that after the fact, next day and took it to another dealership and they did it at no charge, still no PDI though.

Now, I'm in the market for another VW and want to be very thorough. Thank you all.

the PDI is mandatory on all VDubbs. The salesperson "SHOULD" give you a copy of the PDI checklist after you sign it. If you still want to see one I can post it or fax it as well.

Thanks, but vwguild already hooked me up with a fax. Would like to see vwvortex post one permanently somewhere on here, it seems very useful.

Please post a PDI for a GTI. I recently purchased a 2012 VW GTI and I recieved the car damaged because I was unaware of the fact that I was supposed to inspect the car even though it was brand new. The car has a broken intercooler, scratches on the bumper, broken shield, and intercooler pipe is cracked. Stealership is trying to pin it on us saying we "hit something in the road." They keep telling us the car was put on a lift but there is no way this could have been done since the damage was obvious!

I'm not 100% sure if it gets up on the lift, but I know they are supposed to drive the car 5 miles, the broken intercooler would be noticed in that time. Also, my guess would be that a customer test-drving the car or one of the salesmen hit something in the car before you got it. The PDI is done before the car touches the lot, so from then to when you got it anything could've happened.
