Nothing beats a slice of apple pie except for a slice of apple pie with bacon bits on it.

Folks don't realize what an incredible taste treat .
Holiday time we partially cook a dozen or so bacon slices in the mw. Remove, brush a little of the residual fat on the apple pie. Place the slices on top of the pie, put in the regualar oven, 350 degrees, about 10/15 minutes. The smell will bring all your neighbors from a half mile around.
Some relatives will even sprinkle some crumbled up cheddar on top, I like it as it is.

Wife made mashed potatoes last night, mmmmmmm covered with sour cream and real bacon bits

That reminds me, I still have a pack of bacon left to eat. I got the real fatty kind (wasn't much to choose from), nothing like burning them like a crisp in a pan

How is everyone planning on incorporating bacon into their Holiday meal? We're going to make some baked clams with bacon on top. Also, for new years day a turkey drapped in bacon while roasting, and I hope some stuffing with crumbled sausage and bacon. I'll make a cornbread in a cast iron skillet and add a little of the bacon grease for extra flavor. Sometimes I add a tablespoon or 2 of sourcream to the cornbread batter, and/or a little buttermilk.

Not really Christmas without bacon for breakfast, and pork roast or ham during the holiday.

    Bacon rules

I ate a whole plate of bacon for breakfast once. It was at a hotel during my honeymoon. They had a buffet and we were the only two there so I made a mountain of bacon on a plate and ate that. Must have been 30+ stripes.

I add bacon to everything I order from mcdonalds too. Cheese burgers and Mcchickens with bacon are awesome.

If there was ever a time for an abundance of bacon, it's the honeymoon

Can't have breakfast without bacon. Or lunch and dinner for that matter. Nothing like a bacon-wrapped filet mignon for a quick dinner. Or you can read the selections at this site and feel bad that I have to live nearby. http://www.nbsmokehouse.com/as...Bacon

We've had several "bacon" items over the course of the Christmas Holiday (it is not over for MY family yet for a few more days):

    1. Some hors d'ouerves made from dates stuffed with almonds and wrapped in bacon...broiled

    2. A salad with brocolli, bacon, pecans, blonde raisins, celery, and a light mayo dressing

    3. An apple, raisin, and bacon pie

    4. Deviled eggs with bacon in the filling

    5. Wilted lettuce with bacon, hot bacon grease, scallions, and boiled egg dressing

    6. We still have a few days left so there may be more bacon uses...

Hmmm maybe I'll just make myself a bacon air freshener, just fry up some strips and stuff them into the vents in my car

I've made this as a spinach salad. Whisk very hot bacon grease slowly into egg yolks till they thicken. A little minced garlic stirred in too. Very tasty. Also, some lemon juice.

For the holidays, it was just plain old bacon (4lbs) and peppered bacon (1lb) from the Pennsylvania dutch market

I didn't make the pie, but my understanding was that is was a basic apple raisin pie with the bacon (pre-cooked a bit) thrown in and some of the butter cut from the filling...akin a bit to Mince Meat Pie. I'll see if I can get more information.

mmmmmm...Bacon..I think the best way to eat alot of it is to cook it in the microwave on one of those hanging racks, that way all the fat cooks off, just left with the meat

Cob Smoked bacon is just too good for words

Nothing like Saturday night's beans refried the next morning in bacon grease!

But, you ask, where exactly does bacon come from? Click here to see a pig schematic.
