    Hey all -

Why is it that I can't stand ham but can eat bacon all day?
Seriously. Is it a different cut of the meat perhaps?

ham and bacon are differnet cuts of meat, prepared differently, and have totally different textures.

IIRC, real ham comes from the thigh/leg, and bacon comes from the belly.

i don't like fake bacon. you have to cook it exactly the right amount of time, and if you don't watch it like a hawk it ends up like a brick.[

    Yes and yes.

As for omelets, I admit that I prefer bacon's less-crispier cousin, ham.

A few months back in LA, they put it on the BLT instead of mayo. Now it's the only way to eat it. Discussing bacon with some friends last week end, we couldn't find anyone that doesn't love bacon. I think it's the food vegetarians miss most. Fat, salt, crunch, a little sweet (maple), the perfect food. And it fits in breakfast, lunch & dinner.

NY Times had a recipe this week; pork burgers stuffed with maplewood bacon. Can't wait to try. Hope it's warm and dry enough here this week-end to grill outside.

    YES.

My friends look at me with disgust when I mention that one. But a bacon and peanut butter sandwich on wheat toast is...

...had to wipe the drool of my keyboard. Off the Harris Teeter I go!
