An unmarked, unscientific, speed breaker was the cause of the crash that killed a promising young talented racer and his new bride. He must have been speeding, of course, in a BMW Z4 that had been remapped and modded. No information as to whether alcohol was involved or not. He raced both cars and motorcycles and won multiple championships in both.

He hit the speed breaker, car was thrown out of kilter, crashed between a tree and a wall and got wedged, so doors couldn't be opened. Car exploded, they both were charred to death.

Most cities in India have a ****load of speed breakers that are completely unscientific, whether installed by the authorities or by local vested interests. They break cars, suspensions, bend wheels, cause punctures, and are almost never marked or painted. Trouble is, it's not always the city that installs these speed breakers; sometimes it's the local residents, or a school in the area, or just some cranky resident - all done illegally. Cops and city officials don't care.

True. Let me rephrase for them.

The picture makes your speed bump look 1...2 bagels high, tops. That's a baby speed bump. Around here we get them 4-5 bagels high, and speed humps on main residential roads too.

The bad ones should be marked better though... ours and the one in your OP.

      4-5 bagels?!?! that's a baby bump

We had these where I grew up! No markings at all, just an asphalt ramp in the middle of the road (in a few places too). After much yelling by the locals and I think a couple of lawsuits, they painted them and then shaved them down a few bagels

we moved into a new building for work a couple years ago. it's our own private lot and they put in lots of curves and a tiny traffic circle to keep people from driving fast.

yet people would still do 30 in the parking lot, so in went about a half dozen speed humps. the thing is, most people don't give a crap and still hit them full speed. it's very amusing for me to watch them punish their cars.

Looks like the truckers don't like it either based on where they placed this trailer today.

And I love the "other than not being marked and having the pothole, it's not that bad." comments.
You can't just ignore facts to make a point.
I could post a thread saying "Hell is the worst place to have to be."
And there would be at least one tool say something like "Other than burning alive for all eternity, Hell isn't hat bad. Phoenix is MUCH worse."

      And again- parking lot.

I think I made one of those comments.

If I gave you the impression that it was your hatred wasn't genuine, I'm sorry. You can hate them all you want, I just think they are an unfortunate evil I'm willing to put up with (as long as it's visible and doesn't damage my car)

doesnt look horrible minus the pot hole after if causing that section to be worse.

i have seen some that were so deep you almost had both front and rear on the hump at the same time.

and the old transit parking garage i was using had some that were seriously almost shaped like little curbs with very angular edges, and stood about 3 inches high. they were rough in my lowered MK5.

The only thing I love is that you're hosting a 3+ page thread about speed bumps. With photos.

And people are participating. With more photos, and videos.

An argument or two may even be found within this thread.

This came up in suggested videos... what a fuster of cluck this street is,

Too narrow for all those cars to be parked on the one side so uphill traffic always coming into downhill lane, downhill traffic forced to the pedestrian 'lane' even if they weren't already going there to dodge the speed humps.

Streets that should be 'no parking' but aren't drive me nuts. The speed humps just compound the existing issues they were probably put in to 'solve.'

I'll take your speedbumps and give you the world most adventurous handicap ramp.

When I was little, my father was famous, He was the greatest samurai in the empire, And he was the Shogun's decapitator, He cut off the heads of a hundred and thirty-one lords, It was a bad time for the empire, The Shogun just stayed inside his castle and he never came out, People said his brain was infected by devils, My father would come home he would forget about the killings, He wasn't scared of the Shogun, but the Shogun was scared of him

It is fun to watch people plow over the larger humps or tables only to smack the front bumper into the ground.

These removable ones are seriously even worse. There is no rounded area it's just angled and sharp so you have no choice but to literally crawl over it.

There are neighborhoods here that have the fences that you have to weave through to get in.

Yeah- a 2" tall bright yellow quick bump is much worse......

Hint- I actually have one of those.
Still looking for a place to install it.

True, but I never look forward to driving over it no matter what color it's definitely worse than a large hump. Might as well just climb a curb.

And may they rest in hell. I left a neighborhood partly because of board and management group oversight. I'm a liberal, but I love freedom too.

Why in the hell my mailbox has to be identical to my neighbors, even if nicer, is about the worst communist hell that I can think of aside from Soviet era block housing.
