This incredible insider tip comes from our friends at CarsDirect.com. They got a scoop from a Volkswagen spokesperson who confirmed that existing 2015 TDI inventory that has been fixed according to the approved settlement, would be subject to a $5,000 finance rebate in addition to a zero percent financing offer.

Are these TDIs eligible for the VW buyback?

As far as I know, all cars are being checked up on a monthly basis with tires, batteries, and fluids replaced as necessary. If I was in the market, I'd probably take a serious look into picking up a new 2015 GSW TDI for my wife.

    9. 04-19-2017 10:15 AM #9
      That's ALL they are offering?

I don't consider that a good deal considering that the cars have been sitting for possibly three years.
Should be more like $8-9,000 and perhaps a 5/60 b2b and 10/100k power train warranty.

I'm seeing $5k off on cars.com for local stuff - seems okay but not super compelling given the stigma

I bought a new 2004 in march 2005 for $4500 off list without even asking for a discount. Old inventory of "new" cars is something they want to get rid of.

I absolutely trust a dealer to do the right thing here on these leftover 3 year old cars.

Which is to say not at all.

And sorry, but a $5,000 discount on a new car that has been sitting untouched for 3 years is crap.

That's more like it. Although it seems like the DMV area consistently has the best prices on new VWs.

OTOH, these are likely to be the last brand new diesel VWs ever sold. So

      1. Buy heavily discounted TDI
      2. Don't drive it much and keep it garaged for 15 years
      3. ????????
      4. Profit when it goes for 2x MSRP at Barrett Jackson

I'm sure it'll work out that way. Everyone at TDI Club says so.

Except that as soon as you sign for it it's a nearly 3 year old used car.

Are people scooping them up? It seems so. Is that smart? That remains to be seen. Would I buy one at only $5,000 off? Nope. It'd have to be more.

I'm reading comments from TDI folks who think the values on VW diesels will start going back up soon. Scoop one up now and flip it for a profit later.

      They're delusional. It's a CR TDI, not a 1.9 ALH for God's sake.

For $12,900 (about $10k off) I would be tempted.

Does the full factory warranty apply?

I work at a VW dealership. Service departments are being paid from VW to perform monthly check ups on the TDIs.

Yep, including the 2/24 maintenance package as well I would presume. The warranty doesn't start until you purchase the car and drive it off the lot anyways. I don't how this would be any difference since they are being sold 'new' after all.
