Thread: Steering wheel swap - Steering module issue

    1. 04-21-2017 11:28 AM #1
My current control module has an issue where the horn does not work. I swapped a MFSW and a control module out of a mk6 jetta, with the PN VW 1K0 953 549 BS. After i swapped it the car would not start but the MFSW and horn worked. I swapped back my old control module and the MFSW and horn do not work but the car starts. According to a Ross tech page (http://wiki.ross-tech.com/wiki/index...odule_Versions) the "BS" control module doesn't support a steering angle sensor. Everyone suggests using a CH which does support a steering angle sensor. Could the lack of supporting a steering angle prevent the car from starting, is it something that could be programmed?

What's the part number on your existing SWCM? The car not starting probably has to do with the software level of the controller not being compatible with your car
