that would be great to slow down the helmet. It isn't going to be enough to save a bare head that gets a good whack. It's better than nothing, but I'll go with no roll bar for $1,000, Alex.

Awwwww, man! You were just telling me in the other thread how good the weather is right now, too.

Nice, sunny days will happen again, but it would've been nice to christen it correctly right away. C'est la vie.

Bookmarked (boy my Miata bookmark folder is growing!), that might be the ticket. It's cheaper than what Moss Motors & Harddog sell.

The seller was pretty sure it is this bar and it looks right. It's definitely not just a style bar.

Seriously. Seeing your location brought me back to when I was in college 10 years ago, and I had an internship in Claremont, and I was living in Hartford, VT. I had a B5 A4 at the time, not my Miata, but I would pass through Windsor almost every day. Beautiful country up there

I brought the Miata up to/through VT a couple times, once was up to Enfield, NH for a wedding. Despite the hangover the next day, the drive back was pretty nice because I avoided I-91.

Living where I live, right on the VT/NH state line (which is the Connecticut River) we use the highway for connection between towns. You travel either 91 or 89 to most everything. BUT there is always one or more alternate routes that take the pre-Interstate roads, like Route 5 up the VT side, and route 12A up the NH side. When I'm not in a hurry, I usually take those roads anyway because it really increases my MPG's in both the Prius and the 4Runner (they love that easy 40-50mph travel.) So now I'll have an even better excuse to take my time and take backroads everywhere, top down of course.

You did a great job paying $3500. I check craigslist every day for parts, and all the clean NA's in my area are skyrocketing in price. I'm seeing them going for $2500 in rough condition, all the way up to $7000 or more for clean examples.

We had a top budget of $5k but really wanted to spend less. This one is nicer than ones I looked at on Craigslist for $5k, and those weren't local. With this one we've got the extra money to do some mods and upgrades. Cosmetics aren't a thing for me so the little road scars don't bother me, it's cleaner than either of our other cars which are 11 and 16 years newer.

The radiator will probably be first because the plastic is pretty dark and I don't want that to pop at an inopportune time. Hopefully the O2 sensor fixes the CEL otherwise I'm sure we can chase that down. That's really the only stand out issues for us. I just want to get it on the road and enjoy it this summer. Then we can do more work on it over the winter (timing belt probably).

I'd definitely rethink that as well. I don't have one and have a hardtop for track days.

Interior doesn't photograph well, it's really clean.

Gave it a quick wash tonight. Didn't take long, so tiny.

Tried the wax on the mirrors and wing and it's an improvement. Will hit the faded bumpers, and everything else, another day.

Congrats Sporin! I love 1.8L NAs, and you got yourself a good one.

Now put R valences on it, a firmer suspension, and some lightweight Panasports on it!

Just put about 50 miles on her to get a feel for how it drives, all A+ so far. Had to put the top up due to intermittent storms here today but the AC kept us cool and dehumidified and there is TONS of headroom. Luckily we got more sun after lunch and could motor home top down.

Stopped at the parts store and got the hose I need to fix the windshield washer (the old hose was rotted). Also got the bolts for the front plate bracket (in the grill, thankfully not drilled into the nose itself).

Topped up the gas tank and put in a bottle of Lucas fuel cleaner just in case (it's been sitting a while but the PO recently redid the fuel pump, filter, and had the tank cleaned).

Got her back in the garage just in time for the thunder to start rolling in. ⛈

All in all, very pleased with the purchase.

Yeah, I don't hate it, but I don't love it either, I prefer the smooth tail look. If we ever got it repainted we'd have that removed, but a respray really isn't in the cards.

But if you can find a good red rear deck lid for a fair price...

As it's an aftermarket piece, are you sure it's not adhered to the trunklid, rather than screwed/bolted it?

Are some only stuck down? Of there are no visible bolt heads underneath then all he would need is some fishing line and a couple of sticks.

I can't imagine it's just glued down, though.

I'll check the inside of the truck lid to see next time I go out. I can't imagine it's just glued on.
