some people take their whole front rebar off, but i only took my slam pan, radiator support with headlights and grill and then my hood this time because I worked on it all winter, with big bumpers you might as well take the whole rebar off with the bumper

As much - or as little - as you want to. We can unbolt the engine and trans mounts, hoist up the front end and pull everything out from underneath, or you can unbolt the front rad support, headlights, etc... And pull it out the front.

If you're going to rent or borrow a cherry picker, its less work to pull the engine out from underneath. I've done it both ways, and I like the "up and out" method. I don't know how easy it is to yank your front clip tho....if its easy to do it could simplify things. Your call.

I'm a big fan of pulling the front end off. You have the çoolant drained already. It a few bolts to take it off and then its wide open. I have a cherry locker which will more than likely be in omro soon anyway. Easy stuff. Lets get your car together Adam!

I would have to say the newest generation of foresters seems to have less problems than any other subies. I work at a subaru store so I see what's going on in the shop....

I have a fair bit of work to do still on the rebuild before I do the swap but it's coming up. Need to do the rings and rod bearings, then put things back together.

Is there anybody in GB with a VAG.com? The wife's B5.5 is driving me crazy.

I have had a couple, including a '00 Forester that I have now. Great car, decent handling and better mileage than my mkIII GLX. Too small for a rearward child seat but plenty big otherwise. I would stay away form the DOHC engines used prior to '00 and. Otherwise buy the newest and nicest one she can afford, make sure the timing belt has been done and keep an eye on the wheel bearings.

P.S. - teach her how to check the oil.

I'm going to have to recommend a Jetta Wagon, only because I love mine.

The One Lap of America is at Road America this FRIDAY!
Sorry for the short notice. I just took the day off and will be headed out there leaving at like 8:30AM from Appleton.

Some of you may remember Enrique Ramirez. He's running it it again this year.

Gate tickets are $10, but last year I drove in and wasn't charged.

    One Lap: http://www.onelapofamerica.com/Home.do
    Enrique's team: http://www.racingforthechildren.org/

    Anyone want to Join me?

As a side note.....looks like the route all the cars are taking Thursday night is hwy 10 from Stevens Point through Appleton! So...if you want to see some messed up driving with some crazy cars....Enrique is going to let me know about when their coming though town. I imagine it'll be 9PM or later.

I've seen that in Oshkosh a couple times. no idea who it is. in other news, it is turning out to be a perfect night to grab a six pack and cruise over with a lawn chair and sit a spell in the driveway....

    **********Oshkosh Area Pre-Scooters GTG GTG**********

    Who: Yo Ass
    What: Drinks and S'mores
    Where: My House (Viva OshVegas!)
    When: 7:00PM Friday June 8th

We haven't done many "planned" gatherings in recent history, so we're overdue! The Friday night before Scooters let's get together, have some drinks and s'mores at my place, and chat about current happenings. The garage will be cleaned out by then, so even if the weather blows we can hangout in there. So mark your calendars, tell the Mrs you'll be busy for the night, and plan to get yours ass here for some cocktails (or sodas for you young'ins). I'll get the address and directions to those attending once the date is closer.

Bring Your Own Brew - I'll handle the rest.

Spotted: White MK4 jetta slammed with some poke on the frontage road in Oshkosh Saturday about 2-3pm.

Didn't recognize it at all - possibly someone just passing through. Either way, car looked dope.

Anxiously awaiting mail..... I'm expecting a box/boxes from Rotiform early this week. As soon as they arrive - they're off to paint. With any luck (and 20-25 hours in the garage this week/weekend) the project will be rolling by next weekend. Anyone bored on a weeknight hit me up - I'll be in the garage every night this week covered in aluminum dust and buffing rogues. Gotta try out the new toy!

Should be a more then plausible timeframe, I should have time right after Scooters (packed timelie trying to get mine ready before then - but not expecting any car projects between Scooters and EW). I'll hit you up once I have mine done and we can talk more.

Speaking of which - Rotiform box arrived today!!!! Heading to garage now - prepping parts to drop off tomorrow night at paint shop.
