I just bought an 89 Cabriolet for my daughter and want to do an oil change, what weight of oil should I be using in this thing? will 10W30 work?? Any pro's or con's I should know about this year of Cabrio?? It's a Wolfsberg edition if that matters at all. Thanks.

I use 20-50 Chevron, and its pretty decent. holds its viscosity pretty well.

if you have higher mileage, or like more protection, or if you have hydralic lifters, is a good thing to use.....

PLEASE tho, do not use a FRAM, or Any similar filter, as they do not have a anti-backflow valve... go to a vw parts shop, and buy a VW filter, or something like MANN. save yourself the posts about why does the oil light come on.....

I think the factory recomends 5w30 but I could be wrong. I just read
it somewhere but I don't remember for sure. Call the stealership...

Yeah, but only for sub-20 C temperatures... 10W30 for year-round, 20W50 for hot weather only...

I've been running Chevron Delo 400 15w-40 in all of my cars year-round. Awesome stuff.

The K&N oil filters also have the needed valve, of course they also cost 10$ !
