Is this the GTI. If not when can we see some pics of it!!!

New Dash looks very nice. Also does the dash sit down lower, kinda like the new maxaima?

No GTI photos at this point. The PR department thought there might be a photo or two, but it turns out no at this point.

      Great pics! Like the interior.
      And this looks awesome!

Anyone else who likes the 5-door more than the 3-door? I do

Some of the p-shops were growing on me, but IMO that pic above has confirmed that the MKV looks like poop. How disappointing.

The GTI isn't likely to look that much different. Visually, there's not much difference between the MIV Golf and GTI.

It's oke when you remove posts with new pictures, but publish then ALL the pictures in the gallery. Because we want to see them all, and more. Like:

      Maybe we aren't patient enough.

Oops I checked the Gallery again. And what do I see. There they are. I go to see a doctor. I'm a stressed today . Is this human Jamie ??

My post to FASt's thread was deleted along with it, apparently by VWVortex ( ), so I'll repeate myself here in short:

      * shift boot on a Tiptronic stick: silly
      * brushed aluminum shiftgate like nothing else in the saloon: why?
      * high-scooping dashboard cluster visor: icky
      * pre-2002.5 tiny glove box: why?
      * ill-placed steering wheel controls: icky
      * power windows regulator on driver's door locks keypad: huh?
      * the lateral regs on air vents regulators now apparently don't illuminate

      also:

      * what are them 5 rectangular buttons/stickers on A-pillar?
      * what is this ugly crease on the front dashboard shelf?

The only positives so far are, of course, NAV system, LATCH cutouts in rear seat cushions, and new climate controls.

Still, I will wait for leather trim pictures to be released before I conclude whether this interior looks really ugly or just ugly.

EDIT: it's a DSG shifter, not a Tiptronic.

Yeah, that Beetle person's thread got removed too. The site didn't stay in my history, but it had all the pics on it. I think I may have been the first to see them on here. Oh well...

Actually, I think that is a vent on the A-Pillar... I dunno why they would put any buttons there.

It's actually a vent for the side window (to defrost it etc.) ...

Anyone know what color this is? Doesn't look like normal silver, is it a new grey type?

A darker version of Touareg Bluesilver? That's my guess, but I'm sure it'd be called something else than "darker Bluesilver."

Edit: The more I look at it, the more it looks like the Focus blue with a deeper purple coloring to it.

So, are the rear seats NOT going to fold all the way down this time around?!

      Everything is looks GREAT though...

    28. 08-25-2003 03:10 PM #28
Wow, the MKV's look really good from different angles.

Wonder why on earth they posted pictures that made it look like a honda. These angles give a better view and really show you how it looks.

Looks very nice, I noticed no ASR button?

I hope VW does something for MK4 owners since our trade in values of the cars suck due to coil pack and window regulator issues

FWIW, here's my opinions of the dash, which I had expounded on a now-deleted thread:

      1. Interesting that the MFA display is now above the gas & oil temp gauges.
      2. I like that the center dash is higher - better ergonomics, better reach.
      3. Obviously - NAV system is very very sweet. Hope we get it.
      4. I like that the dash storage bin is down low & it looks like the seat heater controls are located there, as well.
      5. I like the leather boot on the auto tranny. Nice touch. I wonder if that's a straight tiptronic or DSG?
      6. Having seen close-ups elsewhere of the steering wheel, I think it's very nicely done & not reflected well in this photo.
      7. Notice that the side mirror control is now replaced by the door lock & vice-versa.
      8. A-pillar vents = nice for defrost.
      9. I like that the passenger side airbag is seamless with the rest of the dash.
      10. I wonder what the compartment under the light switch is for - notice the handle.

All in all, very nicely executed.

IMHO, VW did an excellent job of upping the ante with the Golf V. Watch out BMW, here comes VW!!!

      Some interior closeups:

To the person who was asking about the ASR switch, in this pic, you can see the new location right infront of the shifter.

      very spiffy place fer it

EDIT: looks like they also added the cutouts there like the TT has, without being so gaudy. should be handy for unsuspecting passengers to hold onto when i throw it around a corner.

How 'bout this, I had to do some major body work, like widen it, lower the roof line, widen the rear fenders, make the arches bigger to get rid of the heavy rear end feel, and the hood line rounded and shortened it, plus the usual mods....
