LCT Vario Plus Control Module - MFD Boost display etc.. please read!« »

Well everyone, I just got an update via the mailing list for the LCT Vario Plus Control module, please read below, and I know there are a ton of users who are interested in this module, so please everyone, join the mailing list! If you join it will show your interest in the product and they will continue to develop it. Here's a PUSH for EVERYONE!

Register! (read below!)

Quoted from email... :

Dear Member,

this is our second update with regards to the GTI/RABBIT/MKV vario plus control module availability. We have some good and bad news.

The good news is that our engineers have successfully finished their general development.

The bad news is that we have not determined whether it would be feasible to produce the module as the demand does not seem to be great enough at this time. A final decision will be made in the next 3 weeks as to whether or not such a product can be introduced successfully to the market.

I shall keep you updated as soon as I have more information.

Best regards,

Lisa

 Re: (kharma) »« »

Just received this e-mail from them, I placed my order!

Dear Member,

After evaluating the current market regarding the module, we decided that it is not viable for us to
introduce the vario plus control module for the GOLF/RABBIT/GTI at this time. However, we decided that we
will be able to produce a limited batch for those of you who really would like to try this product out
sooner rather than later. This will occur only under the following circumstances:

1) LCT would like to carry out further marketing research regarding the vario plus control module for the
GOLF/RABBIT/GTI. We require 100 participants for the research of this product.

2) As a participant, you will be able to get your hands on the current version which includes all the
features announced on our website before anyone else does.

3) Your participation will be rewarded with a 50% discount towards the MSRP.

4) Furthermore, if you decide to participate in an online survey after one month of usage, you will be
entitled to a free update of the module should the final public version offer different features after
we have evaluated the researched results.

Interested?

Here is how it works: Go to our website through the following link:

http://store.l-c-t.com/merchan...abbit

Add the product to your basket and continue to the checkout. Don't worry about the item being on backorder,
this is just due to the fact that it is not available to the public yet. Enter COUPON: 6353hwtehy76 to get
50% off. Do not select anything else besides standard shipping as this will only delay order fulfillment.
Proceed to checkout: your credit card and address details will be verified with our payment processor but
you WILL NOT BE CHARGED at this time.

If we manage to get 100 participants by MARCH 5th 2007, 11.59 p.m. PST we will accept your order and
have it despatched to you no later than March 19th 2007. Your credit card will be charged once your order is
on its way.

IF FOR ANY REASON WE DO NOT REACH THE REQUIRED AMOUNT OF PARTICIPANTS, YOUR ORDER WILL BE CANCELLED AND
YOUR CREDIT CARD WILL NOT BE CHARGED. We will then have to carry out the marketing research with a
different target audience.

Please bear in mind that the product you are buying may not work on all configurations. This is one of the
reasons we decided to start this study as our goal is to make it work for everyone before doing a large
scale production. Our tests so far have not yet revealed any incompatibility issues; that doesn't mean that
they are not there but our engineers are prepared to perfect this product! So keep this in mind before you
decide to participate! THIS IS NOT A RETAIL PRODUCT AND IT IS NOT INTENDED FOR RESALE!

The current module only works with the GTI and RABBIT/GOLF (needs the full display to access all functions).

Best regards

Lisa

I am considering ordering VAG-COM, seems like it can do everything this can and a more, except display boost pressure. Anything else to know about? Any info would be great.

 Re: (bcze1) »« »

well, Vag-Com and this are 2 completely different things. Vag-Com is mostly a diagnose tool but it can't do some of the things that the control module can, for example, Vag-Com can't enable your MFD to display boost pressure, change the number of comfort blinks, mirror park assist..
But Vag-Com is a much more useful tool since it can scan and clear codes and etc.

But I'm getting this mainly for the MFD boost display, since this thing is $200 currently and a AWE vent gauge is around $160-$170, getting this control module is a no brainier since it does so much more then just a simple boost gauge.

I understand the boost gauge part, but I have read here that VAG-COM can be programmed to change comfort blinks, mirror park assist, wiper behavior, headlight function, etc.

Can anyone verify. This looks pretty sweet, but I can only afford one of these "toys" right now.

 Re: (bcze1) »« »

Incorporating all the latest functions and features we have to offer, the module is able to:
- display the turbo boost pressure on 2.0t engines on the MFD (dashboard)
- allowing to select between 2-6 comfort blinks (factory is only OFF or 3) on either indicator
- automatically open/close the windows with the RF key remote (no need to hold the button)
- adding a special indicator or horn sequence while you are in reverse gear
- adding Brake Light Assist
- adding Mirror Park Assist (flips down the passenger side mirror so you can see the curb)
- all functions can be configured through our exclusive on dash menu via the MFD
- the module can be switched off to be completely invisible to any workshop
- easy installation - takes less than 20 minutes
- full plug&play - no wires to cut or splice

Like wuman82 said, they're very different. The lct module has functions not found in a vag-com. Currently, we can't control comfort blinks and I'm not sure about the park assist (I believe this requires the highline door controllers, but dont quote me on it).

I have a VAG-COM, and it's been a great tool. If you can find someone in the area that has one you can use, the module would have more function.

BTW, module ordered!! 97 to go.

Vag-Com can change the comfort blinks from either 0 or 3. This module allows you to select any number between 2-6, so in this sense, the module is more useful than Vag-Com.

As far as I know, Vag-Com cannot enable mirror park assist.

Again, as far as I know, Vag-Com can only turn on and off the "tear drop" feature on the wiper, and not able to change any other wiper behavior.

Vag-Com can change headlight functions, for example, turning DRL on/off, allow the fogs to be on with highbeams. This control module cannot change any headlight functions.

Its your choice to get either Vag-Com or this control module. The way I look at it is, Vag-Com is a very import diagnose tool for error codes and such, so it would be infinitely valuable when I'm actually moding my car where I need to be able to scan and clear error codes, but since I'm currently stock, and not planing on doing any major mods in the near future, this control module is more valuable to me right now because of the boost display function.

Thanks for the info guys. Good stuff. I may need a day or two to consider my options, but this module sounds great.

I have not been able to track down a VAG-COM in Denver, so I thought maybe I would bite the bullet and be the guy. I figure that by helping others I could pay for the unit quickly in money saved buying beer alone.

Well, this is another case of me buying without thinking first, and now that I'm thinking about it, how hard is this to install?

Does anyone have any sort of DIY or diagram or anything?

Just sent them a email..."I just ordered the LCT Vario Plus Control Module for the Golf/GTI. I hope you seriously reconsider the requirements for fulfilling these orders. 100 orders for an item that has no pictures of what the MFD will look like is a steep order. The mkv community is very mod friendly and have been clamoring for something like this for quite some time. One other thing to take into account is that the mkv golf/gti has not even been in the US for a year and its sales are growing significantly thanks to all of the great press it gets including Automobile magazines car of the year!

Thank you for your time.

Mark"
