 90 GTI V-6 build thread (yes V-6 NOT VR6)« »

hey all. i thought it was time i introduced my car and the build.
it's a 90 VW GTI with a corrado g-60 brake upgrade. car originaly came with a 16v 2.0 wich was swapped for a g-60 drivetrain. that drivetrain was sold so back in went the 16v. got tired of how slow it was and started looking for swap ideas.....and looking...found the usual vr swaps along with the turbo swap but still wasnt convinced. thought about making it rear wheel drive..to much time and money. then a bud told me about the vw they stuffed a northstar engine into and that got me thinking..(hardly ever happens)i did my homework and found out the northstar does'nt have much aftermarket stuff i could use in the vw.started looking elsewere.my brther bought himself a pontiac GTP and brought it over for me to test drive. all i can say is TORQUE.. that thing pulls like a raped ape..alarms bell wistles started going off (in my head). the search began. engine /tranny/wiring harness were procured from a wrecked GTP and the swap began.. to all my friends/haters who said it couldnt be done.."kiss my glow in the dark white harry ass"

some pics of the destruction

it begins

anybody need a boat anchor?

the belly of the beast.

yeah this looks like its going to fit. no prob. trany is'nt even attached yet.

test fit seems ok.

pass side framerail.plenty of room

lights fit plenty of room for fans, radiator and hoses

time to make a new front crossmember. try not to laugh to loud.

k-member carnage so trany could fit.

engine going into car to test fit clearances

engine in car sitting on mounts.

hood clerancing

hosed down the engine to get some grime off

and now some pics of my helper.. i call her bootyliscious.

i'll be updating this as progress is made.so keep posted.

There wasn't a 16v for 1990. Also has 8v arches and what looks like drum rear brakes...hard to see the though.

I was wondering how long it would take for the shady police to notice something wasnt right. you sir must always see the glass half empty. seeing as what you look for is shady shat.look at big booty girl and leave my vin alone..

for others that plan on calling homeland security on me because of butchered vins and missing 16v front arches. the car was bought as a stolen recovery. i guess the old owner didnt want anybody to know it was his car when found and deleted the vins from car. along with the original engine, tranny, interior ,arches, bumpers, dash and rims. i built this thing from the ground up several times.car is now a rebuilt title 90 gti.but who cares what it was ,sheet i dont.it isnt that anymore.

oh and guess what? one of the few things left on it were the rear disk brakes...

Nice!

Any more pics of how you did the motor mounts? Are you just welding the two sets of axles together?

Is there an exhaust manifold on both front and back of the motor?

two front mounts are oem GM. The two back ones are home made. Sorry no pics of those yet. As for cv joints. Wheel side will be VW the rest will be gtp. I plan on milling them on a lathe till they fit then weld them togeter. If that doesn't work then I'll have them custom made.
