So now it's open.....just don't put "GO GO Speedracer" or something like that... let's keep it on the real.. (did I just open a can??.... oh well... )
Oh, and could someone from Oregon please add "sucks to be me because I live in Oregon and there's no lawyers down here" to the poll? Thanks, appreciate it.
FOR CLARIFICATION, IF YOU WANT SOMEONE ADDED TO THE LIST, YOU HIT THE LITTLE LINK ABOVE THE VOTING POLL THAT SAYS
"add a new choice".
IF YOU WANT SOMEONE ADDED AND YOU ALREADY VOTED, DO THE
"REPORT THIS POST TO A MODERATOR" AND THEY CAN DO IT, I THINK. THANK YOU FOR YOUR COOPERATION
So that's a little big - you get the point. (damn this Vicadin.....

one ticket was for 80/60 or something, but the cop put the date as 00/08/00 so I managed to get pulled over on a day that does not even exist.
another one the cop put down 12/17 when the date was 12/16, so I went as far as driving to the courthouse, hand having them time/date stamp it on the back as 12/16, with the same theory that it was impossible for me to get the ticket... and have it thrown out.
both times the judges chuckled and said it was a simple mistake and I have to pay

Those are ones you can even fight your self. But yes, those both would have gotten thrown out if you had a lawer.

There's 3 of them; John, James, and Jeannie. I've never worked with Jeannie, but either John or James (or both) got me out of a ticket with little trouble. I don't even know what my defense was!!
Yeah, J. Mucklestone should definitely be added to the list.

That's funny, I didn't have to pay anything. Oh, that's right, I pay $13 a month and have legal insurance. If I get a ticket I have a lawyer go fight it for me for free.
I've been screaming about this legal insurance for years and no one seems to listen. I HAVE A CLEAN DRIVING RECORD, PEOPLE!

It was simply an observation, Watson. If you eliminate the impossible, whatever is left, however improbable, must be the truth! I don't think it applies, but that's why YOU should write about your experiences, and of course VOTE

I am not sure which Legal insurance you have, but I have Pre-Paid Legal Services. I pay $17 (same diff). It IS a really good service, and most of the time it works great, but there was an instance where I had to use my deferral instead, so I think a specialist is the most reliable source....

Yes, that's what I have as well. I'm not sure there is another one. It was only $13 when I signed up so that's still all I have to pay.
Yeah, in some circumstances they might not be as helpful. Like I had an invalid license (forgot to renew it), so they weren't able to go to court for me for free because I technically wasn't a licensed driver, but they still gave me all the advice I wanted and I was able to be the ticket anyway.
Anyway, their website is just http://www.prepaidlegal.com. EVERYONE should have this!

Cool, are you a rep? I was going to do that, but I didn't want to make anyone wait while I got it set up. It would be cool if I could make money off of all the referrals that I've given Prepaid though. |
No, we market it under our products - is on my homepage in my signature under products.

Kinda sounds like you are stuck between money and confidence, meaning do you wanna pay the higher price for a lawyer just because they are more confident...
If you ask me, I would ask each attorney if they have dealt with your SPECIFIC ticket before, and also if they have ever contested a ticket in THAT municipality's court before, and if they know the judges. If one person says, "yeah I've been there a couple of times and got this judge, he seemed nice", and the other lawyer says "yeah we are in there just about every week, don't get Judge Bob on Thursdays because he drinks with his poker buddies on Wednesday night", then guess which lawyer I'm going with even if he/she is $350 instead of $250? The one that's not going to raise my insurance rates for five years AND make me have to pay the ticket.
Nuff Said. IMO
EDIT: The flip side of the coin may be that if that same lawyer, who has been to that court many times, has never faced the kind of ticket you received, then I would go with the lawyer with experience with your ticket...

You don't even have to show up to any court dates, you just get him a copy of the ticket, you send it back to the police, and he does the rest. I didn't even tell him when they were and he just knew and took care of everything. Oh yeah and I have a clean record aswell

I have known of John, and hired him several times, in the last 7 plus years. John's big advantage is that he has a great rapport with all the judges that I have seen him come in contact with, and John is really well prepared at all times. I would highly recommend him to anyone, and my friends that have used Jeanie thought she was awesome too. Either way you can't go wrong.

55 in a 35 - dismissed
45 in a 30 - dismissed
Some past indiscretions of my friend, who has since had his right foot operated on to allow for only a certain angle of pedal depression, and sold the bikes off in a fit of common sense.
140 in a 55 - dismissed (on his GSXR 1200, yes 12 not 11)
110 in a 55 - dismissed 91 16v GTi
135 in a 55 - Dismissed (on his Ducati)
And the list goes on and on, and I still hold to the fact that I was not speeding, the officers radar gun was defective!
My family have all used John with the same result, case dismissed. John is the Man, on top of being just one hell of a nice guy.
Forgot to spell check...

He DID get you out of the wreckless racing ticket or you would have that on your record. You have a negligent driving ticket instead, which is significantly less, so I wouldn't complain. Maybe you should drive safely and not rely on a lawyer to accomplish miracles.

| I know that Microsoft employees have lawer insurance, but I don't think it can't be used on traffic infractions. |
It used to be, as my dad has used Jeanie Mucklestone to get out of a 10mph-over ticket, and keep his record clean.
Apparently due to the way the insurance was worded, you could use it on any traffic infraction in which you could lose your drivers license. In WA, that meant any infraction, because there isn't a clear line for when you do lose the license.
Microsoft has since changed the terms of the insurance, so no more legal insurance can be used for getting out of speeding tickets.
