Ive drove dozens of BT 1.8T's and some turbo VR6's and this one has the nastiest powerband. Slipping the clutch with no gas is flawless, burying the gas is not required in everyday driving, but when someone's mouth gets a little too big......

2nd question.. yes, first engine blew unfortunately.
1st question.. yes, ECU was re-flashed with stgIII software from eip after engine build and it runs great now.

yea.... i would definitely recommend you get new software before your built motor takes a crap... i had their "stg III" software.. haha now i have a new euospec bottom end and c2 software so it WONT blow again.. eip is out of business and their software is as good as the toilet paper i can find at a high-school .. that stg III u supposedly have is crap no matter how good u think it runs.. you should get a wide band.. ...that'll show you how good it's running
neways I'm just letting you know the dangers of your tune.. and your selling it so hopefully it will last until it's sold
GOOD LUCK with sale. awesome car just needs new engine management software

Thanks for the comment & I sympathize with your situation. Ideally, this car could use stand-alone engine management.. This will be my next major upgrade if nobody wants it. As far EIP software goes, I have had 0 problems with this ECU. Most of the problems associated with turbo charged applications come from your individual setup. It’s important that you communicate with the people tuning your car on what you have and what your objectives are. It’s easy to blame a company which sets up the computer that determines how your car runs. Don’t get me wrong, EIP has their fair share of issues, but I have been pleasantly surprised ever since I got my car back from engine build.

just curious, did you ever snag the dyno chart for your stg 3 setup? 310 on stg 1 is amazing . . I can't imagine what it would be like with that much power! You definitely earn my #1 as an influence to my 24v if I ever decide to add power to it in the future.

I've been reluctant to dyno it because I'm still on the stock clutch. It holds fine at 15psi but 20+ starts to slip. I will get it dynoed if someone is truly interested in buying but until then I’m waiting until I get a stgIII clutch and ease it in. Thanks for the props buddy!

Whats up bro, your car looks super clean!
I'm running at 15psi right now but when I want to play rough I turn it up to 20psi. No up-to-date dyno yet.... As far as injectors go I have the 60 lbs/hr. (630cc/min) Hi-Impedance set. You definitely want to upgrade your injectors, install that fueling kit and get rid of that rising rate fuel pressure regulator. I noticed a HUGE difference in doing so. Lemme know how that c2 short runner treats you. If i don't sell the car thats my next buy. Give me a ring sometime (561) 214 3697

60-140mph @ 17psi
http://youtube.com/user/envisionmore
19in wheels, two 12in subs & amps, 2 1/2in exhaust, the passenger filming along with stock clutch & intake manifold aren't helping me, but its still pretty quick regardless.

That was all 5th gear. 6th gear on this car is only good for (a) saving gas on the highway or (b) 140mph+

that's how he probably blew his last intake manifold.lol
Actually Petter, I blew my last one at 10psi when it was still stage1 setup. It wasn't the boost pressure at fault. I had just bought the car up in Maryland (very cold) and had a long drive all the way to South Florida (very hot), pulling hard on just about everyone that wanted to play along the way.
Now with a built motor, I put it on 20psi every once in a while and the stock manifold holds it so long as you don't over-do it. After-market short runner is definitely high on my wish list though. ....Care to donate yours??

I'm not sure how your running 20psi on the stock intake mani....ever. Its not made to handle more than 12psi, so i would say your really lucky. You should probably tell people that are interested. As anyone who hasn't built one and buys this car will most likely turn it right up to 20 and beat on it immediately blowing the intake mani. Car needs a short runner to run reliably over 12psi. Not trying to be a dick, just letting people know. |
You are absolutely right about switching the intake manifold (I mentioned it in the good/bad section on page one). Believe it or not, I actually blew my first intake manifold @ 10psi when I first got the car, driving from MD to FL but I pushed it way too hard.
This car has been at 15psi steady for the past year on the stock intake manifold & stock clutch with no problems (a couple people have told me it rides better than a stock 24v).
I think with the intake mani, it is more of a heat issue more-so than air pressure. The stock manifold has excellent airflow characteristics but the two-piece design it crap when it comes to heat expansion.
It really boils down to how you drive the car. It has only seen 20psi twice --- curiosity almost killed the cat, again
Thanks for the input

I don't understand how your car isn't making that much power?! I'm on 8.5 to 9psi And Im making 300whp. On 20psi my car is making almost 500whp. I know when I get a better tune I make 500 maybe better. I've read your setup alot and I don't get it... You have the same motor I do. maybe it's because my turbo is bigger? But dude your car is super clean. If you wanna do a trade please let me know I want a four door.. lol
The power is there but getting that power to the ground is what is holding it back. You have to remember this car still has original clutch & intake manifold. It made 318whp at 10psi and that was at STG1 before any internals. 364whp on stock essentials & no LSD is not bad. Add a couple hard parts and this car would make around 500whp no problem.

I here you on getting it to the ground. I'm going back to the dyno on Friday. To hopefully get good numbers and not spin off of the dyno. Everytime I get up around 5200rpm's it wants to walk all over the dyno. Goodluck man on the sale of this beast. hey if you wanna put a lil more money into it I have a hpa intake manifold and a brand new Euro Spec Stage 4 Clutch. I would love to see your car in person. If you ever come up to Va. you gotta let me know. But I'm not kidding I'd trade you my golf for your jetta. lol...

It'll never sale just like mine has not sold. When are you just going to keep it?
I am ok with keeping it but if someone wants to take it off my hands at a great value than all power to them. I work from home so it is sitting in the garage collecting dust.
Someone might as well someone enjoy it.
