84 gti, 98 aba, stage 3 port and polish solid lifter 83 head, 288 schrick, Megasquirt, Totally Gutted = helluva fast car.
manual fan switch, got keep this beast cool.
oil cooler waiting to go in.
the interior is lookin alot better now, vacuumed, sanded, put back all the plastic bits. kinda sad its done now, nothing to work on now! ive got some vids but i dono where to host em. LET ME KNOW WHAT YOU THINK!!   Brad

love the shift knob. i rock the same one (is there a quaife in there?).  your car sounds like a lot of fun. i had a similar setup the last two years and had a blast with it.

much too fast is what it is.8 valve motors arent supposed to do what that one does.

quaife knob but a rebuilt tranny w/ a 4.56 (i believe) VWMS ring and pinion, 80% diff kit, bolts, and a .75 5th.apparantly the speedo is accurate in 5th...which is scary because it wraps around to the "20kph" marker a little TOO FAST.

I am curious to see some dyno numbers. I keep hearing about MS on ITBs and turbo cars, but not a car like this. COOL! I was thinkin about MS witha crossflow head. I got a beetle intake for free, and have the fuel rail, too. Dyno that sucker... +ODD

i hit a mustang dyno for tuning, so the numbers were really off. hopefully ill hit a "real" dyno soon and get some numbers! the suspension is h&r race springs with bilstein dampers

the numbers from that dyno looked VERY off, even in comparison to other mustang dynos. johnnys mr2 put down like 175whp with a downpipe, 10psi, and a couple of intake mods...thats what STOCK mr2 turbos are putting down on mustang dynos at stock boost level (of like 7psi) i believe.

Curious....Since you did the ABA bottom and MS..why didnt you run the crossflow head as well? A ported german made (mexican ones suck) crossflow head out flows a ported counterflow big time. Maybe later?

People dump the crossflow and go to the solid lifter head to pick up some compression and with the solid lifters they can rev the daylights out of it.
A minutes worth of thinking can save hours worth of doing. 02 GTI, 1.8T, 5 speed

counterflow = oldschool. also i like big ass cams, and the ability to rev the crap out of the motor. a crossflow converted to solid lifters with itbs would probably be my next step from this setup.

Why would a crossflow have less compression? Compression is done by pistons , so they should be pretty much the same ?????? So that argument is out.. I like this post. Need numbers.. +ODD
