I had a 1988 Fox Wagon a few years back with lots of mods. I loved that car.

I would kill to get my hands on this Parati

This is the first time I've ever heard of one. What's the Parati GTI look like? I wish they had brought this to the US market even if there was no market. I love the Recaro seats, the gauges, the shifter, the outside body style, and of course the "pearl" color. Is it just me, or does that 2.0L engine look completely than the ones in the US market MKIII's? I would love to see a VR6 model one, did they even make one stock?

Congrats on your posession.

Wow, that 4 door is sweet too. The 2 door GTI MKII didn't come in for me.

I normally am just satisfied to lurk and drool but your car requires a reply. It’s fantastic!
Seeing the engine layout makes me think it’s rear wheel drive too! Is it?
At any rate, nice car!

If it owes its heritage to the fox of the eighties then it is FWD and it just had the engine mounted longitudinal for space concerns i believe.

Although it's a small detail, there's no chance of that steering wheel being an airbag wheel, is it? I love the MK3.5 Cabrio wheels but I'd love to get my hands on this one!

Anyone know if this will bolt onto a MK3?

I dont think the Parati is considered a fox sw (at least not here), I think its a gol sw (the gol family has been around here for 15 years, its reaching MkV i think). The Fox (Voyage) started production in 1981 and ended in 1995.
Here's a fox gallery:
http://clubedovoyage.tripod.co...a.htm
Unfortunately the thumbnails wont open larger pics (something wrong with the host).
If ou want to buy one check our "ebay" out:
http://www.mercadolivre.com.br...id=AD
there's a parati gti for sale there (around US$12,000).

The Parati, prounounced parachi is from Brazil, the same place where some of our VWs are made (like the 20AE).

Gents, in Brazil VW makes everything from cars to cement trucks. The tuning scene there is HUGE.

I used to travel to Brasil 2x a year on business and got to experience it first hand. Saw many modded A3s, A4s, Golfs, Gols, Foxes, Saveiros and others. The Saveiro is a VW pickup car. Yes pickup car, el camino type. It looks pretty wicked modified with a 1.8T. Here's a few Brazilian links. You'll find quite a few rice-ish looking VWs but every now and then you'll see a well sorted dub.

Check out this site to see a well known Brazilian tuner Shutt...Check out the the Galeria > Auto Sport 2005 and Feisa 2005 http://www.shutt.com.br/new_re...x.php Specifically, check-out Shutt's custom, red, cab Fox. This car doesn't come in a cab. They made it. You can't miss it. There's also a yellow Saveiro for those of you who have never seen one. This particular one is a little rice-ish with the big azz aluminum wing on the back.

Sweet vehicle...it looks like whoever designed the interior of this thing raided the corporate parts bin....

- Corrado style climate controls
- MkIII Golf/Jetta Wiper and Turn Signal Stalks
- MkIV Golf/Jetta Headlight Switch

It's still an uber sweet car that I wish we had in North America!

I think that 1997 was the first year of the MkIV cars, in Europe anyway.
