What are the differences between oem R suspension and the sport suspension on the GLI? My R32 feels fimer than my GLI, but I am wondering if the ride height is different, if the shocks/struts are fimer or what. Anyone have any insight for me?
Here is what the Vortex Moderators think of you:

I thought the oem R suspension was what came on the 20th, GLI, and 337 but that the R32 suspension was different (damping, spring rates, height) due to extra weight and AWD of the R32.
I talked to the parts counter guy at my local VW dealer about this. Apparently, the "R-line" suspension uses much stiffer springs than the oem sport package or oem sport lowering springs/337/20AE springs. It also comes with high-quality Bilstein shocks that are valved accordingly.
Its probably similar to a Neuspeed Sport/Bilstein Sport setup in terms of spring rate/damping, except that it costs about $300 more.
Note that the "R-line" suspension is quite a bit different than the suspension that come from the factory in the R32: the R32 still has crappy Monroe shocks IIRC.
I think the biggest difference is a lack of a torsion beam rear suspension, as the suspension in our r32's is fully independant and similar in geometry to the audi tt quattro (iirc). This means that the rear suspension from an r32 would not work in any fwd mkIV. I am unaware if the front suspension pieces are interchangeable...and even though 20th/337/GLI's seem low, I don't know if their static ride height is any lower than our r32s.
