VWvortex: Film Review- Dub in Paradise« »

Let’s get this out of the way from the beginning – Dubs In Paradise, produced and distributed by VWFlix, is no mega-buck, super-slick production. There’s some shaky camera action (some intentional - some not), a few scenes shot with a fairly dirty lens and the editing at times is a bit haphazard. But these issues do not make for a negative review – Dubs In Paradise was shot and produced by VW enthusiasts for VW enthusiasts, and there ain’t nothing wrong with that, right?... Full Story

Umm...the pics kinda hide some of the text.

Are we able to buy a DVD or something? Just a lil curious. I figured it would be for sale if you posted an article about it.

Nevermind, I decided to actually go to their website! lol

umm. If the video clip is any indication no thanks. Clip took about thirty seconds to flash "dubs in paradise" across the screen, and then show a burnout. Big whoop.

The content of the dvd is great. lots of great cars. Most of the major show coverage, and you can tell there is some real effort being made. But I'm not really sure who let the main interviewer on there. I'm sorry but he has to be the worst person for the job. akward interviews, stumbling speech and embarrassing himself constantly makes me feel sorry that for him that people had to witness that. No bashing here, just constructive critisism from someone who bought the dvd.

As-is, the video delivers a couple hours of cool cars, cool music, some cool people, and lots of goofing around. That’s pretty much what being a VW enthusiast is all about, and what’s not to like about that?

I am not looking to start a flame war or anything.....but maybe to MK4 folks that is what being an enthusiast is all about.....but to me....being an enthusiast is about knowing the idiosyncrosies and ins and outs and experiences in depth with passion and love for a specific brand of machine....which in my case is VW's.....because the car is meant to be driven....and driven hard....

hey there, i dunno about the worst person for the job, i think being an enthusiast alone should be enough. i'm not out there trying to impress people, just trying to have a good time and spread the love.

Are you the one I'm talking about?
I apologize for coming off so harsh. I probably should have chosen better words.
It seemed to me that the job wasn't taken seriously when the camera started rolling. It was almost like you were trying to get it over with so you could go and enjoy the shows. But like I said, there was some evidence of effort and I applaud VWFlix for that.

it's back up... I highly recommend this DVD to everyone; it’s double sided with tons of footage. I wished they could have mentioned some of the nice dubs featured in this DVD but I guess that leaves it up for you guys to pick up a copy and find out.

Well they PROFESSIONALLY scratched the one side and made the other look like they spilled something on it and it made a blob on the data.

The disc plays fine in my PS2, but those marks are still there.

Overall, some parts were kinda blah....not all of the music was my cup of tea, and to be honest, I'll keep it low and say I wasn't a fan of all the interviews instead of being specific.

Def. some cool cars tho.
