 13.2@103 in my R32« »

The track was empty, perfect time to get a bunch of runs in.

After an 1:45 drive with the car hot drove right into Atco and straight to the staging lane. Lined up with another R32.....

I'm #134

13.2@103

next 2 runs

13.29@ 103.1
13.33@102.9

I have no time slip for those 2 runs because they had a problem with the printer. I had to go to the tower and have them look it up and write it down
for me on paper.

next run

I also ran a 20 something because I missed 2nd and just cruised.

Thats it for me till next season....................................

Sorry for bumping again...
I knew that one I test drove felt fast. I own an evo and my wife was thinking about trading her car for an R32. It had an intake, catback and a chip, it pulled well past redline. She ended up keeping her car though.

And I hit 13.2 @ 103 with only a catback, no tune, in my evo VIII.

Those MK4 R32's respond pretty well to I/C/E and cams.

To the OP, any weight reduction to run those times w/ just I/C/E? Seats, spare, low gas, etc.?

The MKV R was easy to pass on. No black, no 6MT, and it was slower that it's predecessor. There is talk of a 300hp 3.6L R36 for the MKVI. Now if that comes in 6mt it could get interesting

Link to where VW has officially said they aren't making a MKVI Golf R model? Ever?

Apparently the writers at Vortex aren't aware since they just wrote an article stating the "rumor" is MkVI R36 300 hp 3.6L.

Apparently not. All of the press out there talks about the VR6 being a thing of the past. At least in the Euro market. The 2.0T is VW's bread-and-butter these days.

And now we're way off-topic on a 2yr old thread.

Hmm. With the price of gas it makes even more sense to lean away from a VR6. We shall see. 300hp from a 2.0T or 2.5T even would not be very hard at all.

Yeah, price of gas FTL. The 2.0T is making 265hp in the S3 with Quattro, so we'll likely get that in a GTI shell.

The beauty of a turbo really. At 20 psi w/ a properly sized turbo a 2.0T is essentially a 4.7L in boost, but a gas sipping 2.0L out of boost. It's nice to have that option all controlled w/ your right foot.

It will be interesting to see what if anything is offered as an R model in the MKVI.
