the AEB uses an external water pump, an intermediate shaft....its very much like an older 8v or 16v. the newer engines are internal water pumps without the intermediate shaft.

I was checking out funksoulkitty's webpage and now I have a question.

If I use an AEB motor from a passat and have to switch to a golf/jetta intake manifold. What year should I use.

Thanks.

AWP vs. AEB

I made 319whp on a dynodynamic with my OE AWD small port intake manifold on my ADR (euro equiv AEB) head. Car was running a Tec3 with a ok, not great tune. bascially my point is that you can run a small port intake manifold without too much problems (FWIW 319whp on the dynodynamic is somewhere between 360-370whp on a dynojet).

Ideally you've got two options.
Option one you'd buy a AGU intake manifold, the AGU is the only transversely mounted large port engine code. Problem is it was a non US only setup. From time to time they are avaliable on ebay.de and even the vortex classifieds.
Option two you buy an aftermarket intake manifold (~$525-~$1000) whcih you can order with TB on either drivers or passenger side and either small or large port.

New question:
If I have use an AEB ECU...will I still be able to check the codes using a OBDII port and VAG-COM?

If you can't pull the codes...how will you know what's up with the motor?

perfect. I'm assuming it's only a couple pins anyway to get the codes. I'd love to see that AEB wiring diagram if you get the .pdf back up.
