i can definitely see a difference in those before and after shots posted by soccergk...

i wonder if it has to do with the suspensions + strut mounts being used...any info on those for those setups?

so,

the JOM ones will NOT work with vr6 style struts?? thats odd, because if the top cap is small in diameter, then it is for the 96.5 and later style suspensions with ALL came with VR6 style strut bearings.

im confused.
although Dan has a 95, so he should have large spring diameter parts

i also got these things from jom (or was it from bonrath ?)

there are two versions in germany out there. one for the normal chassis (4 hole rims) and for the "plus-achse" (5 hole rims, 115hp and above)
you must have the right one for your springs-diameter

but anyway, this kind of "tuning" is crap. my set destroys my shockabsorber from fk. after that i buy a thread chassis (in german gewindefahrwerk), screw it in the right height i wanna have and voilá : perfect!

Maybe if you cut a coil that is active.

Re: JOM Lowering caps (DerDaniel) »« »

Oh, dont get me wrong, these fit my springs/struts/mounts fine.

They just did nothing in the way of a drop for me.

I'm starting to think. I'm pretty sure my passengerside unit was hammered (the spring cap) - Meaning it was "crushed" slightly from the shoddy job the PO did (or hit something?)... that may have been a "home made" set of lowering caps...

I should have measured both left/right sides... hmmm... yup.. looking at them the passengerside one is smashed for sure..

I bet I got the 10mm on the drivers side, but there was no change on the passengerside... Since the old cap was smashed already... hmmm..

I'm not making this up...

Car does handle great with the new camber number tho.

heres my before/after. the only difference is i went from a 185 to a 195 tire.

looking at the pictures of your caps compared to the same shot i took of mine it looks backwards. from what i gathered looking at the stock caps, lowering caps are effective by raising the top spring perch. the difference is the height from where the spring sits. i know my description isnt worded the best but think about the whole concept comparing Dan's caps and these. think about how the spring sits against these at the top of the strut.

not sure if its relavent, but I have H&R coils and every time I raise or lower them it takes a day or 2 for them to settle again. I have no clue as to why. But it is always lower the next day or so then when I initially dropped it. So now I factor that in when adjusting them. Like jhayesvw said give it a few weeks.

i'm quite confused here, would these work on my 95' glx?

i just bought the car, and it's got new bilstein sports on her, would i be able to safely put new springs on the car while they haven't been abused yet? i'm looking to drop the car not extremely low but at the same time i don't want to keep her looking like a 4x4 =]

I dont have any before and after shots of my 2.0 with my caps. But I noticed visually about .25 inch drop on the front of my car. I used BONRATH lowering caps though

I feel your pain but I really think your new strut bushings counteracted the drop. I put these on my car without replacing the bushings and it brought my car down noticeably. Now when i go to replace my bushings soon, I will probably be depressed too.
