HerbeHop version 3 (New VRT stuff and H20 Content)« »

This post is a long one, but its worth a read

I'll start with my car and move on to H20. First off, some may know, may may not know, but I was having several issues with my turbo VR and I was getting quite frustrated. So frustrated that I was ready to pull the whole damn car apart and sell everything and huge loses. That was until I met quite possibly the most skilled (and nicest) guys I've ever met in any scene I've been involved in (Mazda and VW, had a few RX7s).

Pete and Jamie of Sleepers Performance in Hamden, CT took my car in (which got towed in because it wasn't drive-able) and went to work with the tough deadline of getting a car that was a wiring mess, and mechanical mess ready for H20. They looked over the car, were upfront with me in what needed to be accomplished and I gave them the green light to work their magic. They worked day and night giving me calls late night to give me updates.

It came down to the wire and they got it done. Jeff Atwood, who works with Jamie and Pete of Sleepers, came up and custom tuned the car and used his ECU Genius to put a tune in the car that is nothing less than spectacular. The car is smooth and powerful all throughout the entire powerband. The a/f is 1000% on the money and Jeff truly is the man when it comes to tuning out these things. When I picked up the car, I don't even think I could talk for the first few seconds because of how surprised I was. The cleanliness and quality of the install was something that I had couldn't have even dreamed. Then we took a ride. The car rides like a stock VR when its not in boost but then all of a sudden you feel 19-20 pounds of neck snapping boost come on at about 4400 rpm. The car is a rocket ship and there isn't a x-mas tree to greet me on my dash.

PIC #1 to keep you interested

Thursday night I drove here home and got ready to leave for the DagBall rally in the morning. I reached NJ at about 10:30 and met Pete there to cruise down to H20 with him and the dagball. Cruise went great and I have to give a huge thanks to the DubAudi guys to putting on a great show/rally for us all.

To keep this somewhat short, I H20 was a blast, I would like to say that it was my pleasure meeting the couple of you that I did and I look forward to meeting more of you in the future. Some (bellaheather) even got to witness just a lil bit of the vrt in action . I ended up taking 3rd in the Golf Blown category (of 5 ) but hey- not bad considering it was my first time every showing

Finally, just to say one last thing about the guys at Sleepers because they really deserve it in my book. When leaving the show, we checked out my brakes and realized that one of my rear pads was done. Crap! Well, Jamie came with me to the auto parts store and swaps in a pad for me just so we can get home. If that doesn't say something about the kind of care these guys have for the cars they build I don't know what does. They treated my car as their own and performed a perfect build. Not only did I pick up a kick-ass shop, I picked up a great set of friends.

On to the pictures.
regarding the setup- no numbers yet but it would be damn safe to say over 400whp. Car will do 20psi on pump gas all day long.

It's always good to hear that there are people out there that work in shops that trully still care about the customers. There are a lot of shops here in Indy that are just trying to get your money. But that is awesome man, glad to see it running good.
