87' rocco 16v turbo project for sale..NEW PICS... | « » 9:23 PM 12-24-2006 | |
|
As far as the rocco project, I have had the car for about 18 months. I originally had planned on building a 16v-turbo project for this car, but I was rushed into buying the parts, when the factory motor in the rocco had spun a rod bearing. Instead of putting all of money into the 1.8, I purchased a 1991 2.0L 9A block and used that as the base. I had a very good local machine shop do the machine work on the block (hot tanking, line boring, honing, and checked all parts for serviceability). I had new intermediate shaft bearings installed. The block was bored .040 over. The cylinder head was sent to Eagle machine outside of Atlanta, GA. They are known for their work on Aluminum cylinder heads. I had them completely rebuild the cylinder head with new guides and seals. They completed a stage 4 port and polish on both intake and exhaust ports. I also had a Autotech sport intake camshaft installed, as well as an Autotech adjustable cam gear. I purchased a set of custom JE aluminum ultralight pistons. I had the pistons made so the final C/R would be 8.5 to 1, instead of the factory 10.8 to 1. I have also purchased all ARP hardware for the motor. ( undercut headstuds, main bolts, and rodbolts). The transmission that came in the rocco is an 020 trans, and would not handle the amount of torque that I planed on having with this motor. I purchased a cable shifter 02A transmission out of a corrado. I have all the hardware that came with the box, such as cables, shifter, etc. The transmission has 6x,xxx miles on it, and came out of a running car. This motor is not put together and all of the parts are still in boxes, the motor and trans combination would only need 3 or 4 more items to make a complete running set up. I was going to go with a garrett GT-35r dual ball bearing turbo, and a tubular “snake” header for the motor. Both of these can be purchased through a guy by the name of Paul who is on the VW Vortex forums. The tubular equal length header in S.S. goes for about $400.00, and the turbo, which is the best on the market, goes for $1000 to $1200.00. It would also need some form of engine management system. I will be using the Link EFI EMS for Link Systems for my 930 racecar, so I was also going to buy the system for the rocco. I have not purchased it for the rocco though. The motor also would need a flywheel and a clutch package. For the intake, you could use the factory rocco intake, which I have, or use a tube or log intake. Several companies offer these and they are not that expensive. Other than that, nothing else. With these parts, this motor would produce around 400 to 450hp. Here is a list of the parts and in parenthesis( ) is the price that I paid for them. At the bottom, I will total them all up, and you can see what I have in the whole project. Someone will be getting a very, very good deal!! I can also deliver the car inside the state of GA. Outside of GA the shipping is on the buyer. Vehicle: 1987 VW Scirocco 16v, silver in color, euro healight conversion, euro bumpers, Kamei mesh grill, mono wiper conversion, exterior 8/10, interior 9/10 ($1400.00) crack free dash ($200.00) Kamei X-1 front air dam, and side skirts ($ 300.00) Euro bumpers ($400.00) Engine: 1991 2.0 9A 16v block ($300.00) JE aluminum ultralight pistons with total seal rings, .040 over, 8.5 to 1 C/R ($850.00) ARP hardware (undercut headstuds, main stud kit, rod bolt kit) ($300.00) Machine work for block ($300.00) Cylinder head: 1987 1.8L head rebuilt by Eagle machine consisting of 3 angle valve job, new guides and seals, stage 4 port and polish on both exhaust and intake, magnaflux check, ($1200.00) Autotech sport intake camshaft ($120.00) Autotech adjustable cam gear ($100.00) Transmission: 02A from a corrado, 6x,xxx miles, includes shifter, box, and cables ($650.00) The total that I have invested in this unfinished project is $6,120.00 I will let the whole project go for $4000.00 As of right now, I would like to see what kind of response I get for the whole project. If I get an offer from separate person on the motor and the car, I might separate them. But I am not interested in splitting up the parts of the motor, or the parts of the car. In other words…. Do not email me asking for me to only sell the pistons, or for me to only sell the dash for the car. All of the parts for the car stay together, and all of the parts for the motor stay together. I do have several pictures of the car, that were taken before I put it up in my storage barn, about 6 months ago. If there are serious offers, I will get the car out, and take more pictures. Remember, this is a feeler, just wanted to see what the market is like. I am ready to sell, if someone is serious. The pic of the car with the motor inside, is not the case anymore. I still have the original 1.8pl block, but it spun a rod bearing. I bought the motor that you see in the other pics and have started from scratch. I still have the complete CIS system as well.

Hi Brad, Do you know if there is any mods that have to be done to get the 02A tranny to mount in to the car? Will the original axles fit or do they need modding?

The original axles will fit, but you would need to get special mounts for the trans to bolt upto the car. I was going to make some myself, as they are very simple to fabricate. But, Patatron, i think has them..or someone else on the tex, for around $300 bucks. That includes everything you need to mount it to the car...

PLEASE READ THE POST PEOPLE...... I will not part out ANYTHING!! All of the parts to the car go together, and the parts to the motor go together. The reason for this is because I am not going to be sitting on a bunch of parts that I can not sell. I need to get rid of this project, as I have another one to start. If you would like to buy the dsah or instance, you can, but the car comes with it. Plain and simple.... Please read the post, I already have said it in the original post, but I am still getting emails requarding selling just the grill, or the dash. Unless the person who buys the car does not want the items, I will not be piecing this out. Thank you for your interest....now, I will get off of my soapbox!!!

The complete CIS fuel system is in perfect condition, and even has a K&N filter with it, which is included with the car. The intake Mani would also go with the car... Brad

Well, Tcfootball.... I was actually only kidding in the above post....BUT It is a little pathetic that in the post it is stated several times...but I still get PM's and post from people who are not reading..... I guess that is the nature of the beast though. I can understand one, maybe two people..but I have had atleast 20 different people PM me asking to part things out.... it gets old after awhile.... What people fail to understand is that if the car does not sell...then I will keep it, finish it, and drive it. I don't want to part things out, and then decide to finish the project, and then not have the parts to complete said project. I would rather have my racecar finished instead of the rocco...But, I have assembled all of the parts that I feel would make a good rocco. ( my tastes only) I understand that if the above post came off abrasive.... Then I apologize.... I read the post he put up...and I was like " not another one who can't read!" So, I posted without thinking....But, It is the way I feel.....
