“There are three kinds of men,” said the entertainer Will Rogers, “The one that learns by reading, the few who learn by observation, and the rest of them have to pee on the electric fence for themselves.”

The automotive lifestyle was probably not the basis for Rogers’ famous bon mot, but the lengths to which some men will go for their cars proves the point. Despite a series of modifying mishaps spanning a decade, car and owner have come to terms with the relationship, a cycle Clint Maryonovich describes as “righting past wrongs” that has resulted in a crisp motorsports-inspired, show-stopping example of Volkswagen’s most notorious and demanding design... It is so great to hear of another Indy VW guy. I just moved to town and have no connection to the VW scene. I'd love to meet up at a GTG or even just buy you lunch and check out a classic done right. Nice work!

ohhhhh yes! I thought this car was familiar though I didn't realize it until I got to the part where he relocated to Indianapolis. I saw this car on a late night at Tom Woods dealership for the MK V jetta test drives. The car sounds phenomenal! And all the guys at Tom Wood where hovered over the car in admiration of it. Sweet ride

PLEEEEAAAASE lower it

I've thought about getting a 60/40 kit or a bit more ofa drop, but I'd take out the front end pulling it in my driveway...

The way I've got it is as low as it can go and still stay functional. My oil pan works best in one piece.

Well done with the Corrado. While I've never owned one, my impression from those that have is that it's like being married to a super model. It's very high maintenance (even compared to other German cars), and there's a lot to put up with, but when you're inside it, all that stuff goes away.

Dude, I never realized that we have the same car. Not quite identical, but daym close.

Nice!

But the chances of my car being featured just went to sh!+, as I don't think they want to feature another alpine white 16VG60 (Lysholm in your case).

and yes, this is both accurate and true:

Volkswagen - The "people's car"....If Corrado was the "people's car" .... life would be a lot different.

"Post Count" means nothing, except how much time you've been in on the computer instead of under your car's hood.

Congrats, Clint! I'm not very active with Uberdubs, but I remember your car from the MkV Jetta preview at Tom Wood, and even that distant memory of it still stuns me (and gives me BBM-16V fantasies for my A2 eventually).

Two for a balls-out car, and from right here in Indiana, no less. Nicely done.

Inspiring article
Inspiring Corrado
True- a garage does wonders for inspiration, too. I am going through the same newfound inspiration. Great but frustrating with the lessons and setbacks that occur along the way, when you do the work yourself. What a reward: one classy white Corrado that has the power to match its looks.

"Clint was subject to a predicament common to apartment-dwelling car enthusiasts.
“The car was draining me financially to keep it on the road, because I had nowhere to work on it,” Clint said. “I spent $450 to replace the water pump. Another $200 for a ball joint failure"

So true. Very tough when you live in an apartment with nowhere to work on your car

Great story.....
and a wonderful outcome.

I love white cars..! Good Job CLint. Lots to be proud of there!

I like when someone owns and continues to mod for an extended period pf time.. the cars seem to have much more character than 6 month project 'check-book racers'.
Often those cars are just a combination of the best items available at that time. Cars built over time are often very much more considered in their approach.

Yep. That old Sony component has been with me since '93. I'm replaced the LCD once, but it serves the purpose! I had it installed in a 924 before the Corrado came along. Maaco was the best I had available ($ wise) at the time too...but I would've been better off burning the money.

Congrats Clint! I've seen and ridden in this car numerous times and it is sooooo much nicer up close and personal. Your car is the inspiration for Blackie and if mine turns out 3/4 of that I'll be happy. Great car for a great guy..... even if he calls me "old man" all the time!!!!

I'm in need of the METAL BBS center caps for the Corrado 15" BBS OEM wheel. Also need the lower grilles and lip for a 92 SLC. Please contact me if you have these parts.
