Thought that I would throw this video in there as well.

I love watching the driver try to muscle this animal of a car into submission!!

Most of its performance numbers are still fairly impressive today.

Some quick trivia facts:

Later models of the CTR did not have the intake above the rear wheel arches (as can be seen in the components picture). It was deemed not as effective as they thought it might be, and swapped to an air feed from underneath the car.

Also, some models had carbon-fibre front wings, doors and hood (which was otherwise aluminium).

The YouTube clip someone posted above is a section of a video Ruf made called 'Faszination'. Full video here:

Used to know a guy with a red brother to "yellow bird" back in the mid 90's, had a few rides in it, including the fastest ride I've ever had to 100mph on a back street...and a race against the then new 993tt
I never drove it, in fear it would self distruct (less than 40k, two complate engines, 3 trannies and countless turbos, always something wrong with it...it was not driven lightly )
or cause me bodily harm (not the easiest car to drive at speed)...nothing like getting on it on the hwy and beating sportbikes, or doing an unintentional donut at speed

Quite the car....

Most of its performance numbers are still fairly impressive today.

Ruf's main goal when building the CTR was that it was made to be faster than the 959. This is part of the reason why they used a Carrera body instead of the wider Turbo. More narrow tires hurts acceleration, but the slim body helps top speed

True, but they do start with a Porsche shell. From there, I think thats where the similarities end
