I thought of posting this in the Home Improvement area, but this forum gets more action and quite frankly, from the type of people that I'm looking for it from (penny pinchers ). Afterall, it is money related.
Anyway, my insurance went up $600 from last year - $1792 up from $1132. I had no claims, just live in Florida. So, for those that live in FL, who are you finding the best rates from??? (I'm currently w/ American Strategic).
supposedly many insurers offer 5% discounts for each year you are claim free (with a ceiling on total discount you can get). I just read it today in Kiplingers. You do have to call and ask of course.
Yeah, never had to use them for anything, but I know what you mean. Their website is bare-minimum and they only insure in FL and TX from what I understand - definitely not a large company.
I was searching on the internet, but am having a hard time finding companies that even insure in FL anymore. Maybe I'll just make a call to them and see if anything can be worked out if I threaten to leave.
I'm with Citizens now...you don't even want to know what I am paying. If you have hurricane shutters and straps on your trusses, you can get the house inspected and get a discount.
I was just informed of Royal Palm insurance supposedly giving good rates to my neighbors so i am going to give them a call soon.
