Abt Sportsline Releases First Pics of Package for Audi A5« »

The new Audi A5 combines a sporty and an unobtrusive design to a powerful, elegant and individual appearance. "A uniquely beautiful car and thus a real challenge for us," says Hans-Jürgen Abt. The managing director of Abt Sportsline raved about the new Coupe from Ingolstadt, but he emphasizes that "our designers and engineers were able to improve the outstanding base model even more". The character of the noble sportscar still maintains but after getting a special treatment in the Allgaeu it appears more dynamical. The body kit, especially tailor-made for the Abt AS5, is a spectacular package: a front skirt with a grid element which emphasizes the singel-frame grill and the fog lights, the slightly curved, laterally mounted body parts and the sleek gill-shaped air-inlets, as well as the well-proportioned rear. With the unobtrusive but striking rear spoiler and the rear skirt inset in diffuser optics, the design of the Abt AS5 is gracefully rounded off. The 4-pipe rear muffler is perfectly fitting and additionally recontoures the rear view. Needless to say that the car sounds as a real Abt car should.

First of all, the 3.0 TDI engine gets a significant "power treatment". The extremely powerful, self-igniting engine perfectly fits to the A5 and, in addition, offers moderate consumption values. By means of improved motor management, Abt turns the serial 240 hp (176 kW) into powerful 272 hp (200 kW). With an extra Abt turbo charger, the power even increases to 300 well feeded [sic] horses

Despite the ugly two-tone, I would be one happy guy with a 300HP TDI.

Agreed, but dang that's fugly. Guess they're going for the R8 look gone all wrong. Why pick the brown as part of your press release?

I like the power upgrade and I think that the body kit looks good too. What kills it for me is the two tone paint scheme and the fender vents.

I second that, the two tone paint looks freaking awful... The rest looks a little more aggressive than the factory parts and the side vents if painted would look nice.

Clearly in the past the cars were not that beautiful from factory, but now they usually don't need more than some tweaks, especially the later Audis, last alfa romeos and others.

I think it's suppose to be AS5. But who cares it's as fugly as an harry a$$.

Why didn't they use an A4 cabrio 2 door and create a coupe from there? At least it would have been better proportioned

Isn't this car more like a 645 than a 335?

Two tone paint is kinda played out, and those fender vents are NASTY.

The rest of the body kit is OK, but unneccesary..

This car isn't even out yet, and it already looks like a 90's Civic Coupe (full of trashy body work).

Aside from the two-tone paint on the hood and trunk (I like a black roof), I think it looks more interesting in Abt gear. I immediately liked how it looks. In stock form, although an awesome car, I can't get into the appearance. To me, this is the first Abt kit that doesn't look out of place. The vents may be a bit much.

I think this kit is going to look great. Just look at the kit ABT has for the new TT. Very similar. The only thing i don't like are the fender vents and paint scheme which you wouldn't have to do.

How can they call this a "coupe in perfection?"

...geeze. That paint job just ruins all the work Audi has done to build a subtle, elegant sports coupe.

the white one is pretty nice. the two tone killed the other one for me.

imo paint the trunk and ditch the fender vents, and it looks good. maybe pick a set of better looking wheels too... but I do really like the front valence

I usually don't like ABt as they are overpriced like Neu$peed, but I guess I'll be one of the few that actually like their rendition of the A5...gotta like AS5...

I really really like the big TDI though...
