 Spy shots -- 2009 Pontiac Vibe« »

Thought this was interesting because it may also give some hints of the '09 Corolla and Matrix for the US market:

This doesn't look like a radical departure from the current car, though the beltline seems to have gotten even higher I like the new steering wheel with the raised Pontiac emblem.

Those are interesting gauges. I'm not typically a fan of asymmetrical interior design, but it seems to work here.

Looking forward to seeing more of the exterior.

Yes but it's km/h. Look at the inner ring of the speedo for mph.

That cluster is interesting. I always kinda liked these cars, I just wish they had done a proper sport model. The GT sucked.

Looks like thats KPH, since the numbers on the inside ring appear smaller (no triple digits in there until 160 on the outside ring).

I believe you have to be a stoned Canadian to know how to work those.

I like it, though I'm sad to see the 110V plug disappear.

Them there are 'lectric window cranks. You press a button and they crank, winding down the window automatically. Great concept.

Exterior looks alright, the vibe was okay. The interior.. it's okay except for the center stack/console.. those have a habit of looking like urinals when done like that :\

Ehh... not diggin the interior at-all... the gauge cluster looks ridiculous, if they had left the gauges recessed in without the rings sticking out, it'd be better IMO.

can't say much for the exterior yet, but from what i see from the headlights, not sure i like the new front either.

seriously though - the gauges are hard to look at - my first impression = not feeling the design of the interior -

and pardon my generalization but cmon - this version will be as homley as the last most likely....

let me get this straight - I am not a GM hater but I haven't enjoyed the look of their cars in quite a while - my opinion - performance? - well not impressed by that either

other than that my father worked for GM for the entire time I was alive only to work for 30 + years and get handed a forced retirement and a percentage of the pention he worked for

this will be another example of bad design that results in such situations as plants closing.....

2003 Pontiac Vibe (chartreuse) looking for a nice Cherokee...

The past one was actually quite a well-styled little ride, and I'm quite fond of my girlfriend's Vibe. It's a good little car, very utilitarian, and nice to drive. I'm just kind of not feeling this, though - just a little too G6. I'll keep ours, thanks. Besides, it's a fetching shade of bright chartreuse green - all this silver and burgundy can go swivel.

You do know that the Vibe is a joint venture with Toyota. As with the current Vibe the interior is exactly the same as the Toyota Matrix. I bet you won't have said that if the outside skin was a matrix.
Also there won't be any plant closing since it's not a GM product (not 100% that is). I believe they built that thing with Toyota. Keep bashing it..you're just bashing Toyota

Let's hope they use the 2.4L engine from TC. The 1.8L was the wrong choice for the current car. Ask me how I know.

Edit: The article states that the 2.4L will be an option.

It sure does....nothing special here...and the guages are somehow distracting with that rectangular pod for temp and fuel intruding into the speedo pod....it somehow doesn't allow you to completely concentrate on EITHER set easily...that is ANNOYING....sometimes designers can be a little too clever...change this.

And I agree that higher belt line in all the most recent cars is horrible...The latest Scion xB looks like a door stop...horrid!

I drove a Matrix XRS a few times and never noticed the shifter being located like that. Strange, since I liked that about the EP3, I just didn't like much of the rest of the car.
