Nestled out in the Shenandoah foothills, Summit Point Raceway has been a long-time favorite among East Coast road racers. With the addition of the new Shenandoah Circuit, which tests the abilities of both the driver and car alike on a twisty and narrow 2.2-mile course. Many of the corners modeled after the infamous Nurburgring in Germany provide fast entertainment and challenges for the average student... Full Story and Gallery

Alright, at first I was confused reading this, since the TrackDaze/VWoA event isn't for another two weeks--Oct. 7th:http://www.trackdaze.com/events/VWoA/100707.shtm http://www.vwvortex.com/artman...shtml So, is this write-up on the May 19-20 event...? Article doesn't say. If so, it's not exactly breaking news...

It's not breaking news, but still something that we needed to get out there. I apologize for the delay in getting this one run. Our bad completely.

Good to see this getting some coverage. As you can see from this picture, I can't put the numbers on to save my live.

Looks like they were letting the participants run pretty hard. I'd be interested to hear comments from those that attended about some of the cars besides the R32's in the photo gallery (V-Dub deliverance 911, VW's RGTI, EVO, etc.). With the understanding that driving skill plays a large role in overall track performance, how did these other cars compare to the R32's? I went to a FATT there a few years ago and only went through two sessions that were about 15minutes and fatigue was noticeable. 4 sessions over 2 days would be brutal. Good event nonetheless

The car really is just half the equation. I've been pointed past Corvettes and M3's in my old Passat. I've been handed my hat by a Miata in my MkV GTI.One thing I really want to say about TrackDaze' events is how comprehensive their program is. Safety is the top priority followed closely by courtesy on and off track. They require cars be inspected both before and upon arrival so that all drivers can take to the track with the confidence that every other car is out there ready to run and not leaving fluids or parts behind for someone else to pick up. Drivers are divided into groups by experience and subsequently assigned an individual instructor for in-car training. Each group gets time in the classroom to learn more and discuss conditions, setup, and corners with one another. Their paddock has always been a friendly place for any make whether you need help with your car or just want to talk corners with other drivers. TrackDaze hit the ground running with the best practices of a variety of events under their belt. You can do a lot worse (and spend a lot more!) running elsewhere.

Having been a passenger around Shenandoah in an instructor's Miata, the course is fantastic fun for good handling, light vehicles. I enjoyed running the Scirocco there much more than on the main course. I see cars taking many different lines at Shenandoah based on the vehicles or drivers. Makes it interesting.

I agree. I love this course because this is where drivers can shine regardless of what type of car they have. We always strive to make our events as enjoyable for everyone as possible, and we will continue to work towards maintaining the great sportsmanship that has been shown at our events.

I really really enjoy seeing a car being worked through turns with smoothness and finesse, no matter the make or model. One of my last outings I got to watch NOVAdub guide his 924S around the Shenandoah and see him absolutely own the rollercoaster section. I backed off to stay behind him and learn. It was one of the best sessions I'd ever had in my own car just watching him work his so well.I also like to see cars similar to mine either ahead or behind and use them as an opportunity to gauge how I'm driving that day. Those encounters have led to meeting some really great guys and gals in the paddock too and to some lead-follow staging to share lines and techniques with one another. I'm really hoping I'll be well enough to come spectate this weekend and maybe get close to one of those new R32's over at the Jeff'. Just being at the track and around cars is good for me right now.
