1. Get Mex insurance for your car. Park on the US side and a take the bus if you can, otherwise be careful where you park.2. Do not, I REPEAT, DO NOT drink the m***** f****** water (no ice in your drink either) or consume any food. Drink bottled water, bring it with you if you need to. That was 2 weeks of my life me and my friends never want to repeat or see any my CL comrads experence. Four days after leaving Mexico, symptoms will include uncontrolable peeing s*** out of your ass for two weeks until it starts bleeding, heed my warning, seriously. There is no cure unless you ride it out either. 3. The strip show is not what you would expect

Are there car dealerships in Tijuana? All I ever saw were pharmacies, bars and strip clubs.Save your camera for the donkey show.

Yo guys. Auto dealers are 10 minutes away from the border. My task is just to go there and get out. If anything i would go to Ensenada or Rosarito rather then Tijuana. But thanks for replys

I have found that going directly to the foot bridge, grab a taxi and get in/out clean and quick is pretty straightforward so long as you arent travelling during commuting hours. Also, the food is, for the most part, safe... Gotta love $1 street tacos you eat while on the go ... the more I think about it, this could be a fun little trek I should make soon.

I gotta say heed this warning. I learned this lesson many years ago. Montezuma kicked my ass the day after having a few tasty cheap margarita in TJ. Stick with bottled water and NO ICE unless they say it's safe. I have since learned to follow AAA lists safe places to eat, which I followed every time I've gone with no problems since.

From the AAFP http://www.aafp.org/afp/990700ap/119.htmlDrug Prophylaxis Against Traveler's Diarrhea in Adults Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol), two 262-mg chewable tablets four times daily, taken with meals and once in the evening Ciprofloxin (Cipro), 500 mg once daily Norfloxacin (Noroxin), 400 mg once daily Ofloxacin (Floxin), 300 mg once daily Doxycycline (Vibramycin), 100 mg once daily Trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim DS), 160 mg/800 mg once daily NOTE: Drug prophylaxis against traveler's diarrhea may be taken for up to three weeks. Antibiotic prophylaxis is not recommended except in special circumstances, such as in patients who are severely immunocompromised or seriously ill.
Drug Prophylaxis
Table 3 summarizes the various drug therapies used for prophylaxis against traveler's diarrhea. Bismuth subsalicylate (Pepto-Bismol), in a dosage of two 262-mg tablets four times a day (taken with meals and in the evening) can prevent traveler's diarrhea. It has been shown to provide a 65 percent protection rate.8 Bismuth subsalicylate can be taken for up to three weeks. Such long-term use can, however, darken the tongue and stool, produce tinnitus and cause reactions in salicylate-sensitive patients. Bismuth subsalicylate also interferes with the absorption of doxycycline and certain other medications. Compared with bismuth subsalicylate, antibiotic prophylaxis with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole (Bactrim DS), in a dosage of 160 mg/800 mg daily, or doxycycline (Vibramycin), in a dosage of 100 mg daily, has been found to provide even better results for up to three weeks.8 Increasingly, however, resistance to these antibiotics has become such a problem that their routine use is not recommended. For instance, trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole continues to be effective prophylaxis for summertime travel in inland Mexico, but it is unreliable in many other situations.2 Although fluoroquinolones such as ciprofloxacin (Cipro) may be the best alternatives to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and doxycycline, resistance to fluoroquinolones is developing too rapidly to justify their continued use for prophylaxis against traveler's diarrhea. Antibiotic prophylaxis for traveler's diarrhea, always a controversial topic, is now recommended only in specific situations, such as in the seriously immunocompromised patient or the seriously ill patient who would not be able to withstand a diarrheal illness. If antibiotic prophylaxis is used, the antibiotic should only be taken for a three-week period. Other exceptions may include persons who plan short-term critical travel, such as a diplomatic mission, or persons who are unable to practice prevention. In most people, drug prophylaxis engenders a false sense of security. In addition, drug prophylaxis always carries the remote risk of a potentially life-threatening side effect such as pseudomembranous colitis or Stevens-Johnson syndrome. Nuisance side effects such as vaginal yeast infections and, with doxycycline, photosensitivity, are common. Therefore, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends preventive measures only and not drug prophylaxis for most travelers. If diarrhea occurs despite precautions, however, a self-treatment contingency plan is reasonable.

I drove my BMW down there, but we parked in a gated area. That said, I wouldn't park on a TJ street. Also, if you do drive, go on the internet, order the policy for the day you are traveling and print it out. You'll save time and money this way rather than getting it at the border. Remember, if you get in an accident, they can hold you and the other party in jail until they determine who's at fault. Have fun

IIRC that cars aren't really sold like they are here under a specific manufactuer dealer (ie: Bob's BMW). It's more like a ton of brands under one roof (ie: Mexico Imports - BMW, Nissan, Alfa). I donno. I'm googleing.

LOL!!! ROFL!!!My God, what a bunch of pansies. I've been to Tijuana several times for work, and as long as you use common sense you'll be fine. I don't know what the heck you ate or drank, but I've never had any problem with Tijuana food. Obviously, I always drink bottled water (duh) and eat on proper restaurants, not a kiosk on the street. Well, once I got a bit sick, but I don't think it was because of the food, but because of how much it was (I ate one med pizza for dinner and another med pizza for breakfast ). I follow the same rules on every country I travel to for work, and I've never had any problem. That being said, I've been to really crappy countries that would make seem Mexico like paradise. Just use comon sense.
