Just Picked up!! 05 2L TDI GLS Passat Wagon Variant« »

found my dream car!! almost 62k miles on an 05 TDI ... and it's United Gray! Lucky lucky!... but where's the aftermarket for this luvin?

Looking for the most comfortable lowering setup... any idea? neuspeed? koni? VW sport? bilstein? etc? that being said, the groupings are really towards the 1.8t and v6 Passats, what should a TDIer do in terms of spring selection?

wondering about chip tuning for a 2L, can anyone direct me? Looked around on TDIClub, but all the tuners are messing with the mk3-mk4 crowd and can't really find anything regarding the 134hp diesel...

question for the masses though - TDI + Lemmiwinks anyone? is it doable? and parameters to abide by?

I know I want a drop, maybe some wheels in the distant future, and better efficiency... definitely a tint job and a euroswitch, the tiptronic has a weird 2nd gear slip that I don't really know how to diagnose...

help? and while you are coming up with ways to point me to, enjoy the pics

any help in this new realm would be greatly appeshiamated

If you're looking for more Passat info, head over to passatworld.com. Tons of cosmetic aftermarket parts, suspension, etc, but not really a lot for the TDI engine.

TDI info found at the tdiclub in both the power enhancements and b5 sections.
RocketChip and Alligator tuning are popular chip mods.

Won't find a lot of stuff for the 2.0TDI but for the rest, you can do like I did and use some 1.8T parts.

Got KW Variant V1 and in LOVE with them. Now the car is tracking like it should

Rocketchip is there but for myself, I'm using Unitronic. Quite nice.

Vagcom should be first. After you find you trouble please take a look at this nice mod http://www.passatworld.com/for...16118
It does help on my car ( doesn't solve the known stumbling issue but helps )

You should also take a look at tdiclub.com. You will find LOTS of diesel freak there that will surely help you even if it's a 2.0L TDI

Anyways Enjoy

This would have been the car I would have bought nearly 4 years ago if it were available with one thing:

Manual transmission.

It is a crying shame that the TDI Passats were never available with manual transmissions in the US.

I recently came across this:

and a guy over in the TDIclub says it's gravy!... if that's the case, then it's gonna be a good christmas season for me!

You suck! I mean, I'm jealous as hell! Nice find. Enjoy a rare example of a wonderful VW. I too wanted this car when I bought back our B5 in 2000, but no TDIs for USA at that time. Bastards!

I wanted my next car to be a TDI B6 Passat, but I guess a TDI Jetta SportWagen will have to suffice...

yeah I know!!! I get that a lot from my buddies, but the used price tag for a TDI Passat wagon is about 8-10k more than a regular 1.8t ... it's kinda hard to swallow, but the longevity and efficiency of this car will one day make up for the initial cost!

Yup! You will like it! They reflash it to stock at the dealer, but got it back again. The difference is there.

nuts! I was only able to do the 1134 tiptronic sport coding and remove the seatbelt chime ... really wanted to disable the DRLs with the vag-com but ... sigh... anyone have a simple fix for the DRLs? I don't think the old mk4 style of tab bending will but it this time around

Instead of breaking off the tab on the switch, you could tape over it with electrical tape. That's what I did with mine. You could also remove relay 173.

nah, that TDI jetta wagon is what I'd really love... get's better gas milage

but anyway, in other news, for some reason I cannot access the central electric via VAGCOM to hopefully modify the window settings and do a keyless window rolldown... must it be a CAN? or can I use a regular VAG??

Keyless roll down cannot be set with the Vagom on a B5.5 if I remember correctly. You would need this

eh? - I can access the engine, central conv, abs, radio, etc... just can't get to elect conv. I heard in some cases you have to remove a fuse or something... but that's a mk4 rumor that was floating around...

I modified the central convenience module on my '03 to support keyless rollup/down. It's tricky. You need to get VDS-PRO (a DOS-only program) and use your VAG-COM cable in order to do it, and you then basically modify a couple of memory entries (shift by 8) in the CCM in order to turn on this feature. I spend an afternoon on TDIClub reading up on how to do it. Since the Jetta and Passat have the same CCM, the same instructions apply.

It's damned sweet once you do it. And to think people used to by an Alientech controller to do this, when all you need to do is modify some values in the CCM.
