I would have been crying all the way down the ramps and through flushing meadow park to my car. I was at the 2000 Subway Series WS Game 5 when the Mets lost to the Yanks. Call it retarded of me or what not... but I couldn't even bare to watch the Yankees celebrate on our field so I left as soon as Mike Piazza flied out to center for the thrid out in the ninth. I should have stayed, being I'm a baseball fan in general. How many times do you see a WS winning game? Sorry for going off on a tangent there but yeah... METS 08 BABYYYY!!!!

Mike (Harrisburg): Jayson, I think you are not giving Chase Utley his due credit vs. lefties... a .282 vs lefties isn't bad at all... also Pat Burrell owns the mets, the phillies defense and fielding is overall more superior, and if Cole Hamels keeps progressing he will definatly challenge Santana for the cy young. Myers is a wild card, he COULD win 18-20 games, but he could struggle... so while both teams have questions, the phillies have a greater talent pool to build from, they also have more heart then the mets by far.

Jayson Stark: You're right about Utley. He actually hit .318 vs lefthanders last year. But if you're on the other side of the field, would you rather see him heading for the plate in a big spot to face a righthander or a lefthander? Pretty easy answer, isn't it? I think all of your points about the Phillies are on the mark. They're definitely capable of winning this division. The other teams in the league are always talking about all the "gamers" the Phillies run out there. I don't know how many wins that's worth. But they definitely have a different energy than the Mets. I agree with that.

Yeah thank me everyone
Who's in who's thread right now? And not that I want to argue with someone who is a frequent "yo-momma" insulter... but for the sake of proving you wrong... just go look in the Phillies thread... I said nothing offenive, insultive, or remotely derogatory at all. I believe you called me a "MORON" and commented about my mother in some type of sexually offensive connotation for just about next to no reason at all.

I think it's pretty fair to say not all the phillies fans are as stupid as he is.

Shamrock is the same guy that said how is getting Santana going to change anything...

i mean, give me a break.

But he's only gonna win a game, what? Every 5 games? How does that help when the Phillies won the division by 1 game on the final day of the season that also necessitated a Mets loss........oh wait............ Santana will have a pretty sizable effect - especially in a short series.

Even Billy Wagner said the Mets missed that Emotional Confidence boost last year. And Billy along with a few other Mets said he will def bring that spark. So even without stepping on the mound he already turned this team around

the mets could have done their collapse and still won the division if they only could have beaten the philles more than 6 out of 18.

i will never deny the mets collapse helped the phillies get the division, but the mets had control of the division all year because the phillies collapsed at the beginning going 4-11. the phillies kicked their teeth heads up last year, and that cant be denied by any of you

im looking forward to a strong season by both, more drama, more fun

 Re: (beef) »« »

I never denied anything pertaining to head-to-head meetings. Flat out, Philly throttled the Mets. I don't use the collapse as an excuse. The bottom line is game 162 was do or die for both teams. At that point, the 161 games previous were a non-factor in what became a one game season. The Phils horrendous April and the Mets atrocious September didn't matter. What mattered was that one game and Glavine drove a nail in the coffin before the Mets ever had a chance to grab a bat. On the flip-side, the Phils got the job done. However, it's a new year and a new season and what happened even two minutes ago doesn't mean pigeon crap. I hope it goes down to the wire again and we all (both Mets and Phillies fans) have an exciting year of baseball.
