 Valet parking!!!« »

I went out to party in Brooklyn and this is how the valet parked my car. Now I have to find something to replace it with. Looking for a car about the same size, 20k to spend.

I gave my car to the valet parking guy and he was apparently racing my car for about 45 min.

Why do you need to replace it? That damage is not major. From what I can see you need driver side fender, two doors, and possibly hood. Can't tell if the wheel is damaged. Hardly a reason to get rid of it and buy something else, unless you were planning on buying a different vehicle anyway.

i thought that car was pretty much all aluminum?

yeah, I had my gti valeted once. Got the car back, something smelt burnt, I was missing part of my keychain, and the front pass side wheel area was making an awesome shimmy noise. I'm assuming it was the ball bearings..

needless to say, I traded in the car but never again will i have any of my cars valeted.

At least you get back those A8 wheels mostly unscathed, except some scratches on the rear left wheel.

Yeah, that A8 is a write-off. Not too many shops will want to touch that one.

You don't see it on the pictures but the floor is bend and all air bags deployed. Stearing column on the floor ripped out. I have no F-ing clue what that guy was doing to my car to do all of that damage.

Holy crap...I was a valet attendant for a little bit, and through some awful weather (snow/ice blizzard)...and never came close to losing control of a customer's car. That definitely takes some special skill...emphasis on the "special"

I like all the police cars. I don't own a car anywhere close to an A8 and I still wouldn't want a valet touching my car. I'd rather walk in the rain even in a tux.

I'm pretty sure that OP's car is an A8.

A newer A8 would be a nice step up though. Hope you get some extra scratch for your troubles.

wow. how the hell did the valet do that? have you taken this up with the valet service? i would assume, or rather expect, that their insurance would take care of this. or they themselves would straight up cut you a check for an agreed upon price after the car ahs been appraised, etc.

that sucks man, hope you get it worked out.

i'm a valet now, and have been the past 2 years. like kcn0113 said, you get the ****e end of the stick all the time. but whatever, i get a paycheck at least. definitely take this to the valet company if you haven't. they have to take responsibility for it and their insurance should cover it. sucks man, i always baby peoples' cars whenever i park em, cause i know how pissed i would be if my car came back all fugged up

I have some good friends that valet part time. They all tell me exactly the same thing. "Don't ever valet the GTO." Same goes for any fast car. These guys have a set course around the parking lot that they refer to as the "test track". They all get to drive some high end stuff too.

I think you need glasses. You're probably one of those people that cries that you want your car written off if you get a little scratch on it. Those pics don't look bad, however the owner added that there's damage to the floor pan and interior is destroyed. Just looking at the pictures, the car is far from totaled.

I doubt it. The guys I know have a form they fill out if something gets damaged. At the bottom of the forms are two boxes labeled something like "WDI" and "DNDI", meaning "We did it" and We didn't do it". If they know they screwed up, they check the WDI box and the insurance just takes care of it. If they check the other box, the insurance company creates a huge hassle for the car owner. I'd say in this case there's not a lot of doubt about what happened.

Thats not a little scratch--some d-bag seriously messed up that car, and it would never be the same after it was 'fixed'. It wasn't his fault, he deserves either a payout or a comparable car.

That's a pre-facelift model D2 A8. The market value is most certainly exceeded by the cost of repairs needed.

Actually, I think if you looked a little closer you would see a part of the car wrapped around the pole, which means it had to hit so hard that some part of the car had to go over the pole and catch on!
