I think it's only a repost if you hang out in the T-Reg forums, I've never seen that posted in TCL (although I have had the image on my HD for a while now).

That is seriously badass. I know it's probably reserved for light-scout or VIP transport duty, but badass nonetheless. Now let's see it go up against a Toyota Hilux Technical.

In all fairness, if this was posted in the MKIII/MKIV/MKV Forums, you'd probably get a much better reception. If the cover photo was dripping with HDR, you could probably hear the man-goo smacking their monitors.

Canadian tanks and armoured vehicles all have plates on them, hey are a government and require registration. It's normal.

And the Leopard 2A6 can go about 72 km/h...

Yeah, yeah, yeah. You guys are some detail fetishists if ever there were any

Although an MBT putting bare treads to tarmac at 70km/h wouldn't be looked upon too kindly, for other reasons.

Unless the Hilux is spewing armour pierceing rounds, very well I imagine. These are armoured to a pretty decent level by the looks of things. Have a look at the blackout borders on the windows.

So how are the Touareg's handling the natives in Afghanistan?

I'm curious if they actually use VW motors, and if so, which. I would imagine something TDI.

I would do up a T-Reg just like these (perhaps minus the mounted MG3) - it is gorgeous.

$10 says they used the Mercedes wheels because VW didn't have a small enough wheel to fit that tire.

The one with G-class wheels looks very much armored (see windows). Armored military versions of the G-class use those exact same wheels. That said, I'm guessing you need a special kind of a wheel for an "armored" tire and VW doesn't have such wheels. (Yes, I know those same wheels are used also on non-armored Gs but still there could be something special in them.)

I believe that the MB ML models use 5x120 bolt circle. The only model Touareg that uses a 5x120 bolt circle is the R5 model. All other Touaregs use a 5x130 bolt circle. So your answer is yes and now.

No, those are standard G500 wheels from a W463. I have a set in my garage and, though heavy, are in no way, shape or form anything other than a road wheel. Mercedes' G-Class, Porsche and VW's Touareg share a 5x130 bolt pattern.

This is a very good guide to G-class wheels:
