 VW Ride-n-Drive Day at the Track With TrackDaze.com | « » 10:39 PM 3-17-2008 | |

 Jefferson and Shenandoah Circuit, Summitt Point, W. Va. Volkswagen of America, in conjunction with TrackDaze.com, back in October of 2007 held the VW Ride-n-Drive event along with a full-on High Performance Driving Event out at the twisty and challenging Shendandoah Circuit at Summitt Point. This was a prime opportunity for old and new VW drivers to come out to try VW’s latest offerings on a closed circuit and push the cars a bit in the way they were intended to be driven. Three 25-minute track sessions were provided for participants, along with a chance to drive with an instructor out on the course. An added bonus, of course, is having free lunch thrown in courtesy of VWoA and TrackDaze staff to round out a rather unusually hot day. Full story and pictures...

Looks like a killer event. Where's the love for the west coast though? I noticed on the event calendar there's nothing that's going to be close to me through the summer.

That picture was taken during the Novice classroom session. Advanced, Intermediate, and Instructors were either out on track, getting ready to go on track, and/or relaxing before their next classroom/track sessions.

We are slowly working our way out west. Look for us to hit the west coast in 2009!

We had over 120 cars (60+ VW's alone) at the Shenandoah Circuit Event and then had another 20+ for a "free" intro to HPDE on the Sunday at Jefferson Circuit, as well as over 100 people coming out to take the "test drives" around the track....

That sounds like pretty healthy numbers to me. And as a teacher I can certainly appreciate the difference class size makes, especially when talking safety in wielding 3000+ pound machines!Come out west! Please

I had a great time at the event - plenty of track time and going back to back from the GTI to a R32 made me realize I wasn't missing much not having an R32

The "Ride-N-Drive" event was free courtesy of VW. The HPDE had a registration fee. In May we are running our normal HPDE, V-Dub Deliverance 2. Price is $365 for 4 hours of track time and a great chance to hang with fellow dubbers at the track!
