 Pimp my beater!« »

I've had my car for a few months now and it is the very definition of beater. I drive the ever-loving snot out of the little f***er, the interior looks like a hobo's nest, the exterior is battle-scarred and it now sports half of the "Death Proof" logo on its non-functioning pinned shut hood.

I did the logo this morning during a slow period at work using masking tape and tremclad, I didn't do the lightning bolts because I'm worried I might screw them up and end up with something looking like a neo-nazi symbol, so now I'm debating whether to make the crossbones out of wrenches or piston rods.

Give me suggestions of what else to do (on the cheap) that looks either bad-ass, goofy, cool or any combination of the three. The car cost me $400 and I don't give a **** about resale value and I want to have some fun with it before it gets scrapped.

Build the rear wing to have 5 or 6 decks, like the one in the Pixar movie, Cars.

Hmmm, hood scoop idea got me thinking about mock hood exhaust stacks. Two rows, razorback-style on each side of the skull.

Crap. What happened to the bumper? Though I do see why you were able to buy this car for $400 now.

I'd be careful making it too mean looking. You don't want to attract the wrong kind of attention from the local police.

hood scoops are too expensive. cut two foot long slats in your hood and one at the front end of them. pry this flap up, put some scrap metal on either side to hold it up and duct tape together.

Trust me the car looked pristine when I bought it, I'm somewhat ashamed to say.

The bumper damage was from a snowy encounter with a crub, which in turn tweaked the front end and weakened the hood latch which necessitated the hood pins.

And as far as the police are concerned they can lick my balls, I've got nothing to hide or feel guilty about.

If you can weld, or know somebody who can, get some scrap metal and build a new front bumper. Something like this:

That's cool. Sorry you suck at driving though.

And you might add some torn clothes with dark red paint tangled in the damaged bumper area.....

As said above, spray paint the wheels, but, also make sure you get plenty of overspray on the tires, but not so much that it looks like you were painting the tires as well. Also make sure to install some of those little lighted washer nozzles. And lots of stickers.

It's spelled tourette's. O and for the car, clean it up and get rims. Shave all the badges and make everything smooth. You'd be surprised how good a car done cleanly can look without substantial modification.

Funny you should mention that, it currently has no washer nozzles at all (they got scraped off when I cleared the snow from the hood with a full-sized shovel this winter) so it's just the rubber hoses poking out. It works surprisingly well when you're moving and the rushing air atomizes the spray, but at a standstill it looks like the hood is cumming washer fluid.

make a body kit from aluminum siding. make sure it rubs the ground when you have 2 people sitting in the car. get a fire extinguisher and paint it blue and put write NOS on it with a sharpie.

convert it to t-tops with a hacksaw

get some autozone spinners that are far too large and duct tape them in place.

Instead of painting it black/flat black/primer... Use chalk board paint!

Ive wanted to do this to a car for so long, just haven't had a car to do it to. They make the paint, ive used it before and it works awesome.

Imagine the possibilities

1. Try to source a bumper from a scrapper.
2. Do the home depot front lip mod.
3. Remove rear section of exhaust. Install $30 Crappy Tire cherry bomb.
4. Paint those steelies, tremclad black.
5. Add fuzzy dice to mirror.

I'm thinking if you can find the bumper for cheap, the rest should be under $80, and you'll have fun doing it.

Cheap beater cars are the best. I paid $300 for my subaru, and my friends occasionally have painting parties with it. usually unannounced. while I'm asleep. when I have to work the next morning.

My coworkers have gotten used to me driving up with ridiculous/funny/ugly/offensive/etc. crap all over my car
