New extremely limited edition 285-hp Seat Leon Copa« »

Quote, originally posted by Motor Authority »
Seat has released details about its latest special edition based on its popular Leon, a new 285hp version dubbed the ‘Copa’. The new addition will be built in an extremely limited run of just 55 units and each will be priced from €38,500.

The Leon Copa still relies on VW Group’s proven 2.0L FSI four-cylinder petrol engine, which in the new Seat delivers a peak output of 285hp (210kW) and 360Nm (265lb-ft) of torque. This is enough to see the car accelerate from 0-100km/h in just 5.9 seconds and reach a top speed of 254km/h. It also means this is the most powerful Leon ever produced by Seat.

Inside, the car gets leather clad sports bucket seats, aluminum pedals and a sports steering wheel and gear knob.

Last month Seat also revealed its FR550 Leon, a new performance version inspired by the diesel-powered BTCC Leon race car. Like Copa, the FR550 also features a turbocharged engine and a sports themed interior.

Performance wise i like it, but i can't love the exterior look. It looks like a freaking minivan. If you guys thought the A5 GTI was an offender you seriously need to look at the Leon in person.

Innnnnnteresting. FWD? AWD? An OEM-[VAG]-released 285hp on the 2.0T is pretty goddamn impressive though. More than 20 over the S3, no?

Seat Leon looks not at all like any Honda - even from this angle. Golf V looks much more like civic than this car. At least in steel.

I would say 285 hp is quite enough for front wheels only...

Holy **** that car is ugly.
I just don't like the new generation of Seats, I don't even see the point of the brand anymore. It seems nobody else does based on sales either...

Highly impressive numbers though but FWD, its too much. Also isn't this attacking the more expensive (and better) GTI and S3?

What makes the 200 hp GTI better than this? I'd like to hear some facts.

LOL, I KNEW Felix came here only to bash SEAT.

What makes the 200 hp GTI better than this? I'd like to hear some facts.

Quality, ride, handling and most definitely looks. From what I understand and have read (although I can't say for sure, I haven't driven a GTI or Cupra but have 2.0TDI in both) the GTI beats the Cupra all over.

I also wouldn't attack SEAT if I had ANY positive experience with them in the past 10 years.

My family has owned 3 SEATs:

2 were Lemons
Seat UK customer Service is appauling
Seat UK HQ is appauling
Seat UK Rescue is appauling
Seat dealers are rude, uninterested and completely unprofessional
Seat cars have lost their way, they produce irrelevant overpriced underperforming vehicles in a highly competitive marketplace.

I still think the 2002-2005 Ibiza is the best looking Supermini on the market and had decent overall perceived quality, it was well priced but it couldn't take the test of time.

Seat Customer Service has continually been sub standard for 10 years.

My Dad tried to lemon his car back in 1997, nobody would recognise he wasn't happy. He was in Spain on a business trip and actually made a detour and went to the SEAT HQ and demanded to speak to a manager. He went beserk and his car was replaced within 7 days.
He shouldn't have had to do that.

Seat UK only accepted my car was unsafe and accepted to do warranty work that should never had been needed if factory QC checks had been done, after a threatened legal action and had one of the UKs leading corporate law firms contact them. Its not good enough and I have nothing positive to say about them.

I actually went in to look at a Leon about 3 months ago, with my Mum they ignored her. This is a woman who could put any new car on her credit card without a second thought whenever she wanted.

She walked out and bought a Civic the very same day.

So yes I will bash!

285hp and 265tq... doesn't that seem a bit strange? They must be really limiting the torque on this one, probably for torque steer reasons.

No freakin' way!

Peugeot's got the f'ugly stick trademarked/patented/copyrighted for at least another generation. Even the Chinese are having a hard time copying Peugeots right now.

Dear VW.

Please put this powerplant into a VW GTI as a limited edition of 5,000 units
285bhp 2.0 FSI and available stick shift.

Charge a premium for the extra performance and the Konig seats. (not for garish yellow paint and 'Fahrenheit' graphics)

Win.
