Thanks, we need to sticky the Swank Monkey one, I was quoted $400 plus another $125 for alignment, I spent $150 in tools and did it in 3 1/2 hours, plus the satisfaction of doing it myself

Kind of wish I would have done that 3 suspension changes ago
At least I did my own rears this last time.

My mechanic friend charged me $200 to install my S-Line springs; I had to help with the fronts though, they were a PITA. My alignment set me back another $80 two weeks later.

Not positive, but I think these are needed...and best place to buy.

http://autodax.com/catalog/pdetail.php?prdid=44

you'll also need them if you ever plan on changing your rear rotors

Thats it? just torx bits and a jack? There has to be some special suspesion tools to make it less of a PITA.

no, you need a 27mm 6point for the axle bolt, a 14mm triple square bit for the pinch bolt , and the lower hub spreader tool to expand the hub so it will release the lower part of the front strut, check out swank monkey link above, with all these it is an easy swap, without you may lose a finger or 2

trust me you dont need to buy tripple square .. T65 torx will do fine.

also a 3/8 inch extension will work fine as a spreader tool

 Re: Re: (angryrican66) »« »

Hello everyone! This is my first post. I've had my 2007 A3 2.0T sline for a year now. I just started putting mods on it. I've ordered a set of euro springs and planned to pair them with the stock s-line shocks. Martyn at vagparts had told me this was possible. But when I took it to my mechanic he told me that the springs are too short. There was play between the spring and the spring holders/dome, and he told me that it would definitely make noise when I turn or go over bumps. He ended up putting my stock springs back on. Now, can someone tell me if this can be done and how to do it? I'm in SoCal. Does anyone have this done in a local shop? I'd like to bring my car there. Thanks in advance!!

Sounds weird.

The euro springs should definitely work if you got the right part #. Search this forum and you'll find a group buy that a bunch of us did for these springs. Many of the sets were installed with stock shocks.

Thanks for the reply. I'm pretty sure I got the right springs. Martyn said he sold the same set to the group buy. My mechanic didn't use the new nuts and bolts and didn't cut the bumpstop. Was that the reason it didn't fit?

hmm I paid $200 for coilover install and balancing up at

DTM Autowerks in Milford, NH

the desk man is pretty reputable across the Vortex, owns the "Ron Burgundy" MK4 GTI, great guys, if anyone ever needs a coilover install in the New England area.
