Very very rare car!

European market imported car only one of a few in the US. Also known as "The Four-Door Porsche" this was a one time only collaboration between Mercedes Benz and Porsche to build the ultimate factory sports sedan to dominate the Autobahn, and they did. Considered to be "perhaps the most desirable and collectible Mercedes of the last 20 years."

This is the last of the hand-built cars Mercedes produced, the W124 chassis, giving it a quality and fitness level lost on the newer models. Built like a tank the car will run forever and give the new owner hours and hours of pure driving pleasure while wrapped in one of the most classic shapes Mercedes has ever produced.

- Slide and Tilt Sunroof

This car is always kept covered in the factory fitted genuine car cover. Recently completely rebuilt the transmission to provide the new owner with a highly reliable driving experience for another 116k miles. Also replaced the original headliner with a new genuine Mercedes headliner (over $500 part), the inside of this car looks as new as it did when it rolled off the line in Stuttgart.

This also being a European market model it comes with the manual HVAC climate controls, but was fitted with US Spec 500E headlights for federalization. It was not optioned with headlight washers or heated seats when ordered in Europe. The car was originally sent to Belgium but was purchased by G&K Automotive for import (http://www.gnkauto.com/) and conversion and was sold in 1993 and registered as a 1993 model.

I have kept this car as close to stock as possible, maintaining it's heritage and rarity has been a priority for me. I've used this as my daily driver for my short three-mile commute to work and fun weekend drives, I've done everything I can to it to make it a reliable daily driver as it is now, and only now do I feel secure selling it knowing it's in great running shape. The paint is a little tired in spots but still shines when waxed up, a serious detailing/buffing would solve most, if not all of the scuffs. The only other issues are strictly cosmetic, the expected black-chrome trim has faded a into that bronze color and the rubber gaskets around the side-view mirrors are a little cracked but still seal to the car just fine. There is a small nickel-size ding on the front drivers side fender that could be pulled out with the right gear and another nickel-size ding below the rear license plate, both have been there since I purchased the car so I'm not sure of their origin but both are very minor flaws on an otherwise outstanding car.

Work done to the car:
- Complete transmission rebuild, replaced the K2 drum and valve body
- Replaced original headliner with an new OEM one (not a cheap option) interior looks brand new with it.
- Starter wiring harness replaced with a new one
- Engine wiring harnesses replaced as well
- Alpine CDA-9885 CD Player with iPod hookup and remote ( http://www.crutchfield.com/App...A9885 )
- Viper Alarm with Keyless Entry, Silent Arming and Panic Button
- Tinted Windows (20%)
- Modified the fan switch to click on at 86 deg C
- Replaced Euro head light switch with new OEM part
- Got new premium OEM Mercedes floor mats
- Got an OEM Mercedes NOAH fitted car cover (ALWAYS kept under cover)
- Replaced the deteriorated air intake tubes with new SL500 ones
- I also just scored an OEM Warning Triangle that fits into the factory mount in the Euro Bootlid

I have kept this car as close to stock as possible, maintaining it's heritage and rarity has been a priority for me, and the factory Mercedes Benz parts are second to none on the 500E and rarely, if ever, need replacement or upgrading.

Indeed, take an already rare car then import and spend a small fortune federalizing it and bam, you're the rarest Benz at the country club. Suprisingly tho, it's still a W124 so parts aren't too hard to find, neither are willing techicians.

Spread the word peoples, I really need to sell her soon, and the lowered price of $14k is on the money for an early 500E let alone one this rare, and shipping costs aren't as bad as one would suppose. West coasters basically get one of the rarest and most desireable Benz's ever made for about $15k with shipping and east coasters get it for about $16k, add to that the grey market rarity of it and you've got a pretty sweet deal.

My uncle had a 94 E500 black on black [I think they all were in 94] and that car was amazing in every way.

Highway cruising was a blast.

He drove this car HARD just about as hard as his 911 and it never let him down

They were still available in Green, Silver, Red and a few other colors throughout the run of the car until 1995, but MANY were Black and also Green, few Silvers and Red's out there.
