Problem with 2000 jetta gls rear right wheel well« »

I am soon going to be dropping my jetta 2 inches and installing new shocks all around, while inspecting to see if i could lower 2 inches i found that there is an intrusion into the wheel well and it looks like i wont be able to lower it. anyone know what that bump is all about? and what should be done to fix it?

so that pic is of the problem in the right wheel well.

and that pic is of the left wheel well where there is no intrusion

That bump as you call it probably covers the pipes from the fuel filler.

Nothing you can do about it, and you can't lower your car enought for the bump to cause a problem because you have to leave room for suspension travel anyway.

You should never lower your car so far that a bump causes the suspension to travel so far that it hits something on the car. That's the limit of the distance that you can lower the car.
