Greetings to all. We are planning a GTG and wanted to invite everyone in the nearby sections of the state to join us.
This started out as a gathering of the Athens guys and the Albany guys in Macon. I figured that this was a good central location for other sections of Georgia, so here you go.The GTG is Sunday, October 5th, 1pm at the Jock's & Jill's in Macon. 4860 Sheraton Dr. Macon, GA 31210 Use your favorite direction search engine to find it.
I have already got the OK for us to gather there. We will meet, greet and eat all at the same place.
Nothing extravagant, just something to do.
Basically, it is a show and shine, then get some wings and watch some NFL action. It is 3 weeks away so I hope everyone has plenty of time to pencil it into their schedules. Looking forward to it and I hope we get a good turnout. Later, Mav.  1- VW Maverick

Just so you know, that is the same day as the Silver Dollar Showdown in Reynolds, Ga just southwest of Macon.
We welcome all you guys to cruise down and do the drags at the event!
It is an all VW Car show, Drag Race and Swap meet.

You guys ought to head down to Warner Robins to meet, it's not too far from Rynolds. Though that is mostly an air-cooled event, should be cool. Being a military town, there are plenty of sports bars.

Yes is mostly aircooled, but that is only because the watercooled hasn't come out. We usually have quite a few watercooled at the event and would love to see you guys come out and have a good time! Our 2009 one will be on March 8th. You guys have a good time and drive safe and if you wish to venture over and see the show, you are more then welcome!

If you are going to replace the motor theres really no reason not to go with the ABA (2.0) over the 1.8 8v... Only one I can think of is if you are in a racing class where you have to keep the stock motor.

Oh, then you want the 9A (2.0) 16v bottom end? Or you could still do an ABA (and get a better rod ratio) with high compression pistons or forced induction. Either way, go for it.

As of now, she and my boy Jack are planning to come along, but we will all be in my car. Can't afford gas for 2 cars to make the trip. I am sure you understand. In other news, I got one ticket each from Norcross and Barrow County for my dark tint. Both within 10 days of each other.
My car is now in the shop to remove the extremely illegal 12% and replace it the state mandated 35%.
My guess is that they are looking for anything to increase revenue so everybody watch out for the little things (tint, blinkers, tail light out, headlight out, etc).
If I show the receipt for the new tint, will they kill the ticket? Mav.

Its highly likely they will. There are others on here who know more about tint laws but I think thats probably your best response to the situation, showing the court that you are law-abiding. With the State cutting its budget so deep you are right... the smokies will be on the prowl bringing in revenue so they can keep their jobs. As far as I know everything on my car works.
