Do Not Operate Heavy Machinery« »

I work at the headquarters for a pretty big company in central Massachusetts. About 3200 people work in the HQ building that I'm in and the parking lots are big enough to handle the cars for that many people. The snow removal operation to keep the lots clean is pretty big. The company that does the removal uses some big machines - front end loaders, rock trucks for moving snow, etc. So yesterday morning I'm driving into the parking lot and something catches my eye. The ass end of a CAT rock truck is sticking out of ditch in front of the building. Sadly, my first thought was, "Why the hell did he park that there?". Mind you it's 7:30am and my brain function is not nearly at 100% yet. After staring at it for another couple of seconds I come to the realization that the truck probably wasn't put there on purpose. I'm quite interested on how it happened because where the truck ended up doesn't make much sense. It's perpendindicular to the building and the road in front of the building. Something had to have gone really wrong for it to get where it is. This rig isn't small. It's a CAT D30c articulating dump truck. The internet tells me that it weighs in the neighborhood of 47,000 lbs. I've yet to hear the story of how it happened, but I did grab some pictures.

I really want to see how they plan on extracting it out of there.

One day my momma gave me a pair of new shoes.
She told me they would take me anywhere I wanted to go.
But then she also used to beat me with a rubber hose and call me a retard.

Seriously, hope the driver is okay. Maybe the driver nodded off?

If I'm around when it's going down I'll take pics for sure. Problem is I think they'll be doing it during off hours - In order to extract it they'll have to block the main access in and out of the property. Probably not a good idea during the day when people are in and out all the time.

Ah Europe ..... how enticing the concept was; Italian food, French wine, Belgian chocolate, German efficiency, Irish whiskey and Mediterranean weather.
In practice though, half the time though it's Irish weather, English food, Italian bureaucracy and German humor.

Might be, they aren't supposed to bend that way. We had a guy roll one down a very large hill at top speed (~40mph) at work a few years ago. All the hydraulic hoses were ripped apart, but the hard parts were surprisingly ok. So was the driver.

Those rock trucks are brutal on the snow. The tires just slide everywhere. I hate using them and articulated loaders on the snow.

If were the owner, i'd tell you to go pound sand. That's an 80 to 100K dollar truck that needs to get fixed so it can pay for itself, f-u and your lunch break!

The Breeze shook his head balefully. "Keep the can down, watch the road, let me roll the doobie," he said.

They wanted to make sure the same thing didn't happen twice.

I eat lunch in the building. Seriously though. If I had my way, they'd be craning that bitch out right now and I'd be taking pics.

I don't give a crap about if they block the main entrance. I WANT them to pull it out while I'm here so I CAN share it with you bastards. I'm just thinking like the CEO would and not expecting them to do it while most of the employees are here. I have no say in the matter. I'm way down low on the totem pole around here.

I've been trying to get more info to no avail. I'm really pissed because as I suspected they would, they extracted it last night after work hours. I really wanted to get pics of that. I'm hoping pics will pop up on one of the random 'wrecker' boards or something.
