On my way to see a couple old Fords. When I came accross a couple very new Fords.« »

Hi guys pretty green here but I wanted to share what I saw today. I was on I 75 north heading to the Edison/Ford Museum to check out some of..

On the way about halfway accross the state I saw two Brand NEW Taures with MI plates. I wanted to get better pics but there was someone in each car. They looked sharp in person pretty big looking.

DAMMIT!

Ford finally crafts a very good front end design, and then proceeds to **** it up with a rear end from hell

It's too bad that windows keep getting smaller in modern cars. Some of us still like to see what's around us without using a camera, or rest our arm on the sill of an open window.

I find it very interesting that they have dual exhaust, larger wheels, and a camo patch under the right taillight, where the trimline/model designation is, so they're trying to hide that for some reason. I wonder if we're looking at the Ecoboost and/or some sort of sport (SHO?) model here.

My favorite definition of a "sports car" is this:

if you can, from the driver's seat, reach out and touch the back tire, its a sports car.

I just look at the press photos at Ford.com. Definitely different, larger, wheels and a different exhaust set up. The photos available from Ford at present show a single exhaust routed to only the left rear ending in two chrome tailpipes.

My guess is the same as yours. Ecoboost SHO.

In edit, I love the new Taurus.

Not only is that a Taurus, but that appears to be the rumored SHO EcoBoost powered Taurus.

Note the exhaust on the standard Taurus.

Wow, quite an improvement in the looks department from Taurus's of the past! I do think that the rear is on the bland side though. However, overall, I think it's better looking than the Mondeo in Europe. I'm sure you can't get a stick in the taurus, but based on looks, I think the taurus the car I'd be looking at...if I was looking into a sedan and had a choice between the two.

All things considered, it could have been a whole lot worse. I think this car looks really good for the first time in a long time, and I hope it sells.

Agreed! I like the black trim and integrated reflectors at the bottom of the bumper which reminds me of a GLI--a design feature that I happen to really like.

Definitely some Mondeo styling cues there, but I personally think the Mondeo pulls it off a little better. Still, a very attractive car. Ford's definitely on the right track when it comes to design these days.

I have a question. I wonder if that US spec rear plate insert surround can be easily removed ? It looks like it would just snap out and allow the fitment of the longer Euro plate. Do you think Ford is going to try and sell this thing in some foreign markets?

The C-pillar treatment is awful. The car itself looks rather bloated. The rear end is very American, the front is very Euro-generic, and the tall fat proportions (like every other recent car) aren't well masked.

I want to like this car, but I don't.
